We had seen this advertised in many places and read the reviews etc. As is stated elsewhere the show is all in French, and knowing as little as we do, it did detract from our enjoyment. This is our issue not the venues. The show was still very enjoyable and entertaining and very well performed. Even if you can’t speak very much French I would still recommend going.

It was miserably hot the day we went but we got a spot in the shade (probably half of the stands were shaded). The entire thing was in French and we don't speak French but it didn't matter as you could totally tell what was going on. The horse riding and sword play was excellent and would be entertaining for anyone.

The site is next to the Eagles lair bird sanctuary, which we went to visit and also got tickets for this. I have to say the experience and show put on by the actors is fantastic. I speak about 6 words of French and the story is very easy to follow, with it's slapstick based comedy you can easily follow the story. The skill of the riders is awesome and they truely entertain the crowd. If you don't know the story of Roland then you may think it's about excalibur. But the story is about Henry II being mistaken for a tramp and siezed by the french. some English nobles try to free him so he can steal Durandal (the sword of Roland) and the ensueing story is full of amazing horse skills and Keystone Cops type funnies all the way through. Totally enjoyed this day out. The stars of the show are the horses who are both stunning and skillfully trained

My children are fans of historic role-playing games and shows so I can say this show is relatively unsophisticated, but if you just want some fun in the (hot) sun and watch some beautiful horses strut their stuff, it's fine! There's not much else for children in the area unless they like monkeys or birds. The organisers should really think of more interesting things for the female characters to do and say.
