Tourists visit Lourdes because of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes. Might as well visit the house of Bernadette to know how she lived and her family. Going to Lourdes is a pilgrimage as you can walk from the Sanctuary to Bernadette's birthplace. A must see for everyone.

Just like in my title, this place take you back to old clean and innocent days. We were so lucky that we got to visit the house of a saint. The fee is just 2 euros to come in and you get a free saint Bernadette souvenir when you first enter. Her belongings, her kitchen items, the beds, everything is still as is. Even the moulin that her father used to work on is still well maintained. A nice nun even turned it on for us to see how the moulin used to work. The family tree and ornaments of Saint Bernadette are really unique and exquisite. Such a nice experience. A must see when in Lourdes. People are so nice too to explain to you also.

Also within the grounds of the Lourdes grotto, is Bernadette's original house where she and her family lived before her father ran into difficult times where they had to move into an old jail cell! Recommend a tour folowing Bernadette's path from her house to the grotto site where the Virgin appeared to her and asked her to dig on the dry ground for water, which eventually miraculousy started a lake..... which is now the location of the healing waters.

While on the 57th PMI military pilgrimage to Lourdes, some friends and I visited the Chateau Fort. On our way back down the hill we decided to visit Bernadette's house. It is small and there is not that much to see, but for 2 Euros it is not expensive. What impressed me was the family tree displayed on the wall. She has many living relatives.
It is interesting to see the humble dwelling of a person so important to Lourdes. If not for her vision of the Virgin Mary, Lourdes would not be the spiritual center that it is.

Well worth the visit.
Makes you feel very humble to realize the poverty and very simple origins of Saint
Bernadette. Makes the story more real.
Recommended to illustrate Bernadette's background.

I was lucky enough to visit St. Bernadette's house twice (2006 and 2012). This is a lovely home and it felt really nice to see how St Bernadette lived her life in France. The whole experience was overwhelming. I would definitely recommend you to visit her house, surely you will feel really great after the visit.

According to what I was told, the house was given to her parents to live after the appearances of the Virgin Mary, she may have visited ans slept there but it was not where she was born or raised, very small, it’s only EUR 2.00, think of it as a contribution but don’t expecto to be overwhelmed.

Haven previously read of St Bernadette and all she was (she was an epitome of humility), visiting Maison Paternelle De Sainte Bernadette produced an emotional connection. I was literally thrilled, standing in the house where St Bernadette once lived with her family. Although small, the house is worth a visit. It is rich in history. It is a sight of interest if you happen to visit Lourdes.
