After the seaside "front" walk from our hotel, the Domain at Lourdes was an oasis of calm. The commercialisation stopped at the entrance. The whole Domain is aimed at helping less able visitors so getting around was always easy. Thought the marshals at the evening rally's could have been a little more relaxed and friendly but I guess they have... More

You really feel peace when there. I stayed for three days and felt like there weren't enough. The atmosphere is wonderful! You sense the presence of God, amazing feeling. The night procession is out of this world. Though participants come from different countries and don't know each other, but you can feel a bond of brotherhood.

For those visiting the sanctuary , have a previous look at the day program . After 3 visits to Lourdes, it is the first time we attended the night procession with lanterns . To see !!

Awesome architectural design. It is a pilgrimage site as well as a tourist attraction so as expected there are a lot of people. I was warned to be mindful of you personal belongings for apparently the gypsies are growing in size there.

A place where pilgrims come from all over the world. It was touching to see so many people coming in wheelchairs to drink the healing water and visit the Virgin Mary's Grotto. The grandiose Sanctuary is build on a rock. You have to climb up the stairs to the basilica to see the beautiful landscape.

As a Christian I have visited the Sanctuary a number of times - last time 2 years ago after a toughly battled (mental) illness. Today I returned with my wife though she ' s not religious. Again wee were deeply emotioned by the atmosphere and more in particular by the many many volunteers helping the ill, disabled and elderly people... More

Real place of spiritual renewal - sense of God being close. Best to go later at night when less people around. Sit opposite the grotto or go in the main church. Try to avoid the ghastly modern basilicas.

This is a well known Christian pilgrimage site. Global as you quickly realise with people fro 100+ countries. It would be of interest to the non-religious, and is profoundly moving to the religious. To me, seeing Young people attending to the elderly, sick and even the dying was the greatest reward. We have some wonderful, caring and loving young people.

We was driving towards Spain and found this great place to take a break at. Sure there where a lot of people, but well worth a visit. It take several hours to go through in slow pace and look on all the architecture. Must add one word extra to this place...devotion
