One of the best trips of my life! Absolutely beautiful place. The peace and gentleness of the experience will be with me forever. Though there are many many people it is so smoothly run by volunteers that there is no issues at all.
Very touched to see so many young and old volunteers helping the people in wheelchairs and those who have illness.
The water at Lourdes is very healing too. I bought a big bottle filled it up at the Lourdes taps ( spring water from the mountain) and distributed it to family and friends at home ( it is check in luggage for bringing back water).
The church itself is absolutely beautiful inside.
The 9 pm procession of Mother Mary is worth doing and very special indeed.
Can’t recommend it more. Hope to go back!

The first thing that struck us was the amazing architecture, and how vast the site actually was. We felt an overwhelming spiritual presence whilst praying at the grotto, also saying the rosary at the grotto. Being out of season we didn't have to wait too long in line for the "baths" again a wonderful experience. The only reason we didn't give a five star review is that we felt (as did many others) that €21.00 to get a Mass said in Lourdes was somewhat excessive. Will definitely return some day.

Being here in the Grotto gives one a special feeling , and as we touch the cold rocks from one end and move on with the pilgrims to the other end, it gives us time to acknowledge our gratitude for this life and seek blessings. The rocks have sofened over the years which shows the strength of the faithful. A true feeling to realise spiritually.

Grotte de Masabielle is the cave, where there was the Apparition of the Virgin in Lourdes. Now there is a chapel and on it there is a very big sanctuary. In the cave masses are celebrated every day with a lot of people, it is a very important religious place. For no religious people, it is a curious, historical and interesting place. Ok.

We’ve been so blessed to visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes. It was a real pilgrimage of thanksgiving and prayer for continued good health and guidance in our family. Walking in grotto where you can touch the rock faced wall and praying brought me to tears for unexplained reason.

First of all worth noting that by far the best time of all to visit the grotto is at 9 o’clock, when most are viewing the candlelight procession. This is very much a magical and spiritual place, especially at night when the lighted candle procession takes place. Well worth a visit to the holy water source, an amazing area. The chapels are of interest, and the outside architecture is stunning. Religious or not, an experience at the Lourdes grotto is inspirational. Something to keep in mind though is you will not be alone with your thoughts!

To visit this place one may feel the peace, joy and hope our Lady offers to us. This is where the Lady appeared to Bernadette. The well is not open for people to view up close, but you can see it from a good distance. When visiting this exact site, kneel and feel the love ❤️ our Lady has never ceased to give.

It once was beautiful and truly religious, but now the people there are just after your money and have no respect. Therefore, I must say that the devil has overtake this place. Truly saddened by the experience me and my family have gone through. It’s a shame as this place was once a jewel of Catholicism.

Before my trip I was disappointed that there will not be any candlelight procession in the evening as the pilgrimage season ended at the end of October. But Lourdes in the winter is beautiful! Especially praying at the Grotto, there was no crowd, you can stay as long as you like, there was a certain peaceful calmness around the place. the sound of water of River Pau was really soothing in the background as you pray/reflect quietly at the Grotto. I was sad when we have to leave on day 3.
There was hardly a queue at the bath, done within 10mins, so we went twice. Being off season, it was a small group who attended the daily mass in English, and everyone greeted each other before the Mass, touching to see ppl coming from all parts of the world to part take in the Eucharist, we are all one body in Christ.

The "domain" (the whole sacred area including the Rosary Basilica, underground basilica, accueil where some sick pilgrims stay, baths and the grotto itself) is closed for only a few hours overnight. It is generally open from about 6.30am to midnight. Processions occur Easter to November - check for exact dates. The atmosphere varies greatly depending on the time of day. Large pilgrimages organised by various dioceses across the globe often have large ceremonies at the grotto. The singing at these can make them a beautiful experience, but they can mean the grotto is very busy, and inaccessible to walk around the back of the cave. If it is too busy for you, cross one of the many footbridges and take some quiet time out by the candles on the far side, and try the grotto an hour later. The grotto is particularly beautiful and serene at night time, so don't be afraid to try it after dinner. I like it around 10pm. In recent years there is a nightly mass in the grotto at 11pm. If you have "petitions" (special intentions to pray for) or have been asked to bring petitions to Lourdes for others, you need to join the queue to walk around the back of the grotto cave. The first "postbox" is for offerings (money), and the second, about two-thirds of the way around, is for the written petitions. There is no need for either, and there is no need to make an offering at all, even if you have a petition. Petitions should not contain any money, as the envelopes with prayers are burned unopened. In the immediate area of the grotto (c.50m all around), visitors are expected to be silent for prayer, and men may be asked to remove hats; elsewhere in the domain, you will hear lots of chat and laughter. Enjoy!
