It is a nice church but nothing springs to mind as we were touring the whole town at the time and there were many other things to see.

We stopped in Cordes-sur-Ciel on our way to Albi from Toulouse . It was a beautiful day of mid-November and even though the tourist season was over , the village was full of visitors and we could hardly find a place to park our car ! The Old City is located at the top of the hill and the Eglise... More

Cordes is one of the original Cathar towns of southern France. It is situated on a hill with impressive views of the countryside of the Tarn. Built around the 12th century it is a delight to walk in both summer and winter. In winter the early morning mists that surround the hill make the town appear to float in the... More

We've been here a couple of times and is always a wonderful visit with amazing views, lots of unique shops to explore and many options for great food. Prepare to spend the day to enjoy all the Cordes has to offer, bring good shoes as there are steep streets and uneven cobblestones.

Why aren't castles in the UK given this type of treatment? We recently visited the town of Albi (just stuck a pin in the map - and by the way another fantastic place to see) and a waiter suggested whilst we were there to visit Cordes. So glad he did. It was magical from the time we saw it from... More

A must see if you can. Beautiful landscape and breathtaking views when you get to the top. We cheated and got the little train - at only €2 if was fun! A wonderful place to wander around - lovely little unique shops and buildings, and interesting cobbled streets. We sat in the square in the sun and had a beer... More

So we had to view it solely from outside. Don't miss the gothic window round the back. Well worth the walk to the top of this vertical fortified village.

I must admit I wasn't planning to go to this place but it was wonderful when I got there. The landscape to get there is breathtaking and whenever you see that little town on the top of a hill, you can just think of how amazing it must be to be there, and once you reach it, you can just... More

Cordes sur Ciel is about an hours drive from Toulouse. We took a very scenic route where for kilometres we drove past vine fields and avenues of Plane trees famous in this area of the Midi. As it's name implies the village is high up and often surrounded by cloud, but, the day of our visit was clear and bright.... More

About 1 hour 20 min drive from Toulouse and well worth it. Steep climb up cobblestone road to the top but truly worth it. This has been one of my favourite stops in south west France this trip. Very memorable, postcard quality views through cobblestone streets across vineyards and country side vistas... we ate lunch in main town opposite the... More
