Beautiful example -- two domes in the Byzantine style make this cathedral special. Many medieval frescoes still extant. The cloister carvings are really spectacular -- note the carvings of medieval pilgrims (usually adorned with a clam shell), who are following a pilgrimage route to Santiago...More

In the center of the old town. Unusual step down to the church from the front and side streets. Nice stained glass behind the altar. Side courtyard is pretty. Garden in the back of the church.

The exterior is nice with a lovely market place next to the cathedral. The interior is very impressive, particularly the twin domes and the frescoes on the ceiling. The adjacent cloisters are attractive. The area around the cathedral contains many old half timbered houses.

The cathedral is right in the centre of this beautiful city and should not be missed. Cathédrale St Etienne will celebrate its 900 years anniversary in 2019 and much of its structure dates indeed from the year 1119. Beautiful frescoes adorn the domed interior and...More

We took time out to visit this splendid cathedral when spending a day in Cahors with our friends who have a house in nearby Caillac. The cathedral has some interesting stained glass windows, a mixture of old and new, but the star attraction for me...More

We have viewed many Cathedrals in France, but for me, this one is the most interesting. When you consider the engineering and architecture involved and when it was built, it is amazing. Well worth the look.

I was doing some research at the archives in Cahors, so on my lunch break I walked to see this church (built in the 1100's!). The paintings (sides and ceilings) and stained glass seen from the inside are stunning. There is a beautiful small garden...More

Helped by having a very knowledgable guide. Exterior and interior very interesting even for someone with limited knowledge of architecture and Church history. Frescoes, South door and cloisters all revealed very interesting stories.
