The last remnant of the medieval fortifications of Nancy, this is a special site from the XIV century! It's only visible from the outside so it's a quick visit, but guided tours are available through the Tourist Office for more details.

This impressive 14th century city gate is interesting and it is worth checking out the facades on both sides.

To have a taste of old Nancy walk further north off Place Stanislas (nice spot but sooooo overrated) where you will see La Porte de la Craffe, the church of Saint-Epvre, the Museum of Lorraine among others.

Sure impressive building but no need to get close to it what you see from a distance is what you get!

In northern part of the city is located the impressive Porte de la Craffe dating to the 14th century. The part facing the interior of the city is most noteworthy.

Located in top of Gran Rue, was part of Nancy's old city defences.
The gate is from 14th century .
Is well maintained both external as internal.

La Porte de la Craffe most definitely has some staying power, but the descriptive signs and welcoming committee seem to have fallen by the way side. If you’re in the area don’t skip it but a separate trip might prove a disappointment.

It's big. You get the best impression when you walk through it...
From the outside it already seems to be huge. If you want to , you may visit the inside but only with a fee.
In any case it's worth comming here.

Parts of this imposing tower are apparently up to 600 years old and while it seems to be all that remains of the town's walls it's certainly worth a quick look, although it didn't seem to be possible to get inside it. It's in a very pleasant area with lots and lots of eateries plus the Museum and Palace of the Dukes of Lorraine, so it's an easy area to spend an hour or two, or three, in.

Just a wonderful example of medieval architecture...so close to the Museum, Church and Duke's Palace.
