I am a Texan who has had a house in Narbonne for the last 8 years. One of the primary reasons why I bought my home here was Les Halles. The market, voted the most beautiful market in France for 2022, is the heart and lungs of the city and surrounding area. A must visit, as it is special in every way.

We stopped in here to see the building and also peruse the various booths. You can get everything from fresh fish, rabbit and chicken to vegetables, bread and desserts. there are also little food/deli counters where you can try typical local dishes and some small establishments even had tables or a bar to sit at for lunch and beverage. There was great energy and lots to see, and the historic building is richly decorated as well. There's a nice restroom (free; women's is downstairs just outside the entrance to the market). We enjoyed wandering and "grazing" our way through the booths.

Les Halles
The real ones are the Baltard-style Narbonne Halls, the largest fresh produce store in the region. Take away the onlookers, curious, tourists and follow the locals to the best fishmongers, butchers, charcutiers, caterers, bakers, florists, wine merchants, grocers, and I forget!!! Follow the premises and you will notice that EVERYONE has HIS best craftsman. Quality and freshness are at hand and the choice is made out of sympathy, history and period of shared life. Your choice!
Some semi-industrial establishments but of quality and reputation.
Particular attention to "La hive des Halles de Narbonne", a group of beekeepers from Audois and Pyrenees (but not that). At the bottom of the Halles, right entering through the main entrance. You will find there, for the sweetness of fruity and woody rhododendron honey and fuller bodied chestnut honey spicy and with a hint of bitterness; but be careful, for the sweetness, "when y-en-a-pu, y-en-a-pu" , no molasses here. Lots of derivatives too.
And what spoils nothing, Maya the Bee is very smiling.
Good tasting.

We ate some oysters, very good snails and some prawns next to the fishmonger. We missed making the tuna tartare that had pintaza another time! We made a white wine to glasses I recommend the bottle since if you take it and proportionally it comes out better. Then we went to the bar in front of the butcher and ordered freshly chopped steak tartare as we saw that they asked directly to the butcher.
The market is beautiful to come back!!!!❤️

Located a couple of hundred meters from the town center and well signposted. We visited on a Sunday morning and were pleasantly surprised to find almost all of the stalls were open. Quite busy for a Sunday we thought but it wasn't too crowded. Masses of local produce to be found that wouldn't be in the supermarket.

One of the best French markets. Les Halles of Narbonne is famed for its great food and atmosphere. From the train station, you can take a free shuttle bus. Les Halles is centrally located within view of Pont Des Marchands. Highly recommend!

Loved our visit to this Barney. A superb array of neat, fish, cheeses and produce. Also plenty of places inside to sit and sample the food. Lots of locals doing their shopping rather than crammed with tourists. We visited in a Sunday when it was busy (and the outdoor general market was on you). Park along the quay side (plenty of free parking along Victor Hugo)

We have visited this beautiful market several times over the past 20 years and it never fails to impress. A huge variety of delicious foods from the local area. Lots of little bars and places to eat. Highly recommended.

A great historic market hall. Well worth a look around whilst it is in operation. Make sure that you get there to be able to lunch at one of the food stalls inside. We ate at Chez Bebelle which was excellent with theatre thrown in as wel!

The place to visit in each city: Les Halles. It is a good indicator for the discovery of tastes and colors. In Narbonne, I liked the atmosphere, there is everything. I went there on a Friday/Saturday and there were people. I tried a tielle and it was too good. I've been hungry on almost every stand even though there are non-regional stands.
