A beautiful church, tall and elegant, with a soaring vault and nice side aisles. Difficult to photograph the inside it is so high. It is more attractive as the usual long nave was never built so the proportions are unusual.

This is the monument you must visit we even you go to Narbonne. It's really an authentic n original monument to visit. You will feel very good in that environment. The statues the paintings the real art of ancient time. A must.

The cathedral was never finished. All there is is the choir and some started walls for the rest. Hugely interesting if you are interested in late medieval constructing, slightly less if you are not.

The visual elements in this cathedral are ribbed vault ceilings, flying buttesses (sometimes double), soaring height (131+ feet in height), very realistic statuary, and stained glass/rose windows. Largely unfinished (in spite of the 1272-1340 building timeframe), disagreements over demolishing city walls for the needed stone...More

A huge Gothic like cathedral that is smaller on the inside, as a series of local and national events caused the construction to be halted part way through a large extension. So it is now part ruin / unfinished and part active cathedral. Oddly spooky...More

Huge, unfinished cathedral. Massively tall ceilings with beautiful gothic detailing. Lovely garden too. Not worth going to see on its own, but part of a complex of historic buildings and museums that are super.

Magnificent piece of southern Gothic style, Narbonne cathedral is a must-visit to admire its ambitious size, towering vaults and peculiar acoustic effect.

This is a beautiful little cathedral and only about a third of the original ambitious design. The good folk of Narbonne decided the city walls were more important than religion and refused to knock them down to provide space to finish the building. You can...More
