I thought on google images that there must be a nimes in Rome - amazing.

Amazing arena :) the audio guide really takes you on a virtual tour. Climbing up the steps to the top has a wonderful view! If you have 2 hours in Nimes, definitely go here!!! :)

Don't miss it. Simply don't miss it. An utterly spectacular experience to walk around and over a genuine, preserved and mostly-intact Roman amphitheatre. Download the app first.

One of the best preserved Roman amphitheatre, the area at Nîmes is smaller then the Colosseum at Rome, but just as interesting. €9 might seem a bit pricy, but the audio guide is interesting and for €11.50 you can add a couple of other Roman antiquities.

Good view of the city from the top. Good informative app available for smartphones as an audio guide. The place has been prepared for concerts which take place throughout the summer. So not quite authentic Roman setting!

Spent 3 hours in Nimes a week ago and it really was terrific - the Arenes is a 10 minute walk from the station. There is no luggage store at the station but go across the road and pay the friendly staff 5 euros per item (Terminus Hotel). The Arenes is in amazingly good condition - I do believe it... More

East to find in the heart of Nimes. Even at the end of July it was not too busy. Free audio trail once inside but you have to leave something like a driving licence as a deposit Plenty of history to awe at, the only downside for me and this is being picky, is that the theatre is still used... A wonderful arena still very much utilised by the locals for theatre and concerts. There is a free audio guide and plenty to see. There are no refreshments for sale but there is a small gift shop. The arena is set in the heart of a very busy city.

I was surprised the first time I have visited Nimes to find that it has its own Colosseum. This time it was different. I had the time to observe the Arenes de Nimes and realize how much authentic it is and at the same time not touristic at all, which for me is a plus. A very good first impression... More

Having visited the Colosseum in Rome a few year ago, we were utterly disappointed at how the arena in Nîmes had been managed by the French. The arena had just been used as a finish for the Tour de France, so there were hughe tribunes in the middle, on top of an asphalt layer (obviously not temporary) which apparently covered... More
