This is a small but hip park in the middle of the city in that lovely traditional French way, where you turn a corner and there's a park. It's lined with reasonably priced cafes with lots of outdoor seating. It's also near both the central shopping area and the Promenade de Peyrou, which is one of the highlights of the city, so it's an ideal place to take a moment to sip something strong.

Pleasant plaza with shady greenery and atmosphere. Several cafés and restaurants, where you can enjoy the terraces without any car noise.

A perfect square, a few cafes, just the right proportion of calm and people, surrounded by beautiful buildings.

Regularly visit the square to have coffee at L'Attitude but the pleasant experience has recently been diminished by construction works to a hotel conversion from the old town hall. The square was a great place to sit and enjoy a quiet moment but this is likely to have ended. It appears money and greed has been the overiding reason for the municipality to grant permission to have a upmarket hotel in this square with all constraints and its difficulties in enabling services both in and out and of course the patrons comfort. Not optomistic so the sqare could be avoided unless you are a student of routes ,services and public circulation.

We stayed on Place Canorgue and it is a lovely spot with 3 cafes, a wine merchant, a close by spectacular boulangerie. Some of the cafes provide only beverages and allow you to bring in outside goodies. The Place is right next to Montpellier's Arc, the aqueduct and park and other attractions and it has a great unicorn statue

One of the most calm and beautiful places in Montpellier. There are some bars, restaurants and a few lovely hotels.

This square is truly beautiful, although currently marred by a small construction site. Lots of trees, nice old buildings, a few cafes, no traffic. Especially pretty at night. Come and linger.

Montpellier is full of lovely squares and this is as good as any of them, but not remarkably different. However, the scaffolding and cladding from the restoration work does impair the view somewhat.

They are restoring a big building here now which takes away a bit of the charm but is still is a beautiful square.

This turns out to be a delightful town, filled with great architecture. The Place de la Canourgue is one of the don't miss spots among many.
