Sit here and watch the world go by - a cliche, indeed, but this is where it comes to life! None of the cafes or restaurants seem to want to hurry you away, either

Fantastic night food market and wine tasting starts Place de la Comedie towards Esplanade de Gaulle. Exciting range of street food, great atmosphere and live bands. Start early to get the most of the wine tasting. Expect long queues for renowned food stalls. Weather was great, very windy after a hot day. Not to be missed. see tourism office site... More

Tons of shops, restaurants, pubs vendors and people! If you like crowds this is the place to be! Fantastic place to just go for a walk and waste a lot of time! :)

'Steak tartare' was disgusting, adulterated puree, served with pommes sautees instead of frites I ordered. Inedible. The waiter was indifferent to my complaint. Prime location but terrible food and service - keep well away!

Montpellier is a somewhat unknown but very pleasant mediterranian gem and the Place the la Comedie is at the center of it in a large pedestrian area. The old city (with better restaurants than on the place de la Comedie) on one side and the gardens (Esplanade and Museums) on the other side. Very lively at night! Apart from that... More

The square headed up by the opera house at one and and the esplanade at the other is great central meeting space in the evening and a vibrant cafe scene during the day. Most of the eateries are quite average but the closer to the Opera house the better they seem to be. The Statue of the The Three Graces... More

This gigantic traffic-free square is right at the heart of Montpellier before you head into the narrow streets of the old town. It's flanked by street cafes and served by the city's tram system. It throbs from early morning to early morning and is the very soul of Montpellier. The Opera House looks spectacular when floodlit.

his is the place to go - and just 10m from the Hotel De La Comedie. Plenty of restaurantes, ice cream parlours and even a Carrefour department for collection of water, refreshements, foods, et. In the summertime, everyone strolls the place and gathers the ambience of this young-people, mediterranian city. Very safe with lots of Police around. You feel comfortable... More

La place de la Comedie is situated at the center of Montpellier where you can find all the clothes shops, restaurants and bars. Daytime, it is nice to walk around and check those little streets that has small shops as well as restaurants. Night - during summer (August when we visited) there are a lot of entertainment provided by the... More

Liked: Centrally located with connection to 2 tram lines and convenient Monoprix Department Store. Did not like the number of young men "hanging" around with apparently nothing to do.
