A castle full of history and some of it more recent than you might expect. Good for exploring and great value too. It also has art exhibitions featuring local artists.

This castle is worth a visit if you're in Collioure. It's very atmospheric and you get great views. Reasonably priced but not for anyone who finds steps difficult.

This costs €4 a person and does come with a guide in multiple languages. Great 360° views of Collioure, and a few exhibitions within the rooms. A change from the beach, but do fee more could have been made of the rooms in the castle, telling a bit more of the history of the area.

We visited in August 2016...going through all the rooms was a nice experience. Here you have a good view of the mountains in the backland. Liked Fort St. Elme more.

Not as well preserved as Fort Saint Elme, mainly big empty rooms but great views from the high walls

Although it is in the process of being renovated/excavated for its past it still affords the visitor an opportunity to witness history and imagine. Also great views!

We went on a self guided tour which costs 4-8 €/person depending on age. We clearly looked old so we got in for 4€. It is a huge castle that has been well restored. Good information panels in English together with an information sheet. Easy to understand how the castle developed and look across the town to the other components... More

We took some time on our first morning in Collioure to visit some local landmarks. We did a self-guided tour of the Royal Castle. A good portion of the interior courtyard was undergoing excavation - providing an excellent opportunity to watch archeologists at work. Unfortunately, on the day we were there - no one was working the site. The castle... More

We had some great hours with our teenager sons at the Collioure town main castle. Ok prices , brochure guids with the history of the castle in several languages. Small souvernir shop. Really a great castle to visit. Many rooms, towers, caves an tunnels to see. Great views and easy acces from the main harbour. Love IT!

It's a must in Collioure, just near the port and the tourism office, a huge fort built and rebuilt 3 times, interesting history. You get a big size plastified paper explaining a bit the different building phases, not 100% easy to see, actually. The underground paths are impressive (and nicely fresh in summer). The view from the walls is beautiful,... More
