Enjoyed the visit to Fort Saint-Elme. The grounds and the fort itself have been beautifully restored and the views are amazing. I would recommend the walk up rather than the little train.

Thank you for your comment. Our collection is enriched in permence. the same is true of historical commentaries. Walking is a plus, but the little train is an opportunity for the most tired people.

The walk up to St Elle from Collioure takes around 20 - 30 minutes, if a little slower like me especially when in peak summer's heat. Take the route via the windmill! Although a misty day there were still some great views from the top...More

The fort is very interesting to visit and is in a commanding position above Collioure. Equally good was the walk from Collioure up past the windmill, through thepark and then among the vines and scrub.

We climbed the hill from Collioure up a fairly rough path, but it was well worth the effort. The fort is very impressive with its huge fortifications, and the tour around and inside is interesting, with good displays and attractive rooms.

There are several ways to hike up to this fort, or you can take the tourist train from town. The trail my husband and I took up was a rugged dirt path - a bit easier going up than coming down. Beautiful views along the...More

To get to the Fort, you have to go through some wild lands, it is the magic of the ascent. We noticed that we did not have a book in English. We will do the necessary. Thank you for your relevant comment.

What a view!!! This private property has a nice little museum. You have access by car if you prefer. Hiking from Collioure is a little bit challenging with no shade.
