Brent was a fabulous guide! He is extremely knowledgable yet unpretentious. NO question is a dumb question. He encourages engagement in all aspects of the tour and tastings! Truly one of a kind!

Brent is a fabulous guide, providing a great historical tour of Carcassonne introducing some amazing chocolate and, better still, some wonderful local wines. We particularly enjoyed the natural and biodynamic wines. Very recommended!

Modified tour as bad weather. Got off to a bad start having been sent long, rambling emails & texts. The messages gave 2 different meeting points, only discovered this when we were waiting outside in the ‘wrong place’ in heavy rain with the guide not answering their phone. The guide was grumpy when he did come to meet us and again berated us for being in the wrong street - even though we followed the instructions he had messaged to us. This is not a ‘chocolate and wine tour’ more a glorified wine tasting with enhanced nibbles that include a few chocolates at the end. While some of the content was interesting and would have been better walking around Carcassonne, we were given a mini lecture in a closed wine shop. To accompany the dialogue the guide referred to some printed maps & pictures in a folder but only very limited time periods were covered and questions about Carcassonne at any other time were out of scope. The ‘chocolate’ lecture was book research about cocoa generally, no pictures of anything local or to do with the local production or specialities. The chocolate information shared was also out of date with ruby chocolate having been launched in 2017 but a full 2 years on & with it in plenty of shops our chocolate expert guide had not even heard about so hasn’t included it in his lecture of generic info. Perhaps as it has been developed by a Belgian-Swiss cocoa company with a global reputation it just wasn’t local enough. To translate: ‘Chocolate & Wine Tour’ = wine tasting ‘Sumptuous picnic provided’ = there’s nibbles at the tasting ‘We visit small, local producers of fabulousness’ = we sit in a closed shop if it’s raining ‘Tasty & Educational’ - listen and don’t ask awkward questions The tour part would be more interesting in summer if actually walking about but it is misleading to lead with ‘chocolate’ in this tour title and definitely not suitable for anyone in your group who is driving as it is just a wine tasting. Note that hidden in the long rambling messages pre-tour is a very useful detail - tour balance must be paid in cash, cards not accepted. We were a small group of just 2 so this was very over priced for what it was at €150. For us this under-delivered on expectations of a ‘chocolate & wine tour’ from a local expert resident.

Well this is a perfect example of not being able to please everyone all the time. I’m sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations. As my previous reviews received demonstrate, I provide an high quality, valued and enjoyable experience. The vast majority of my guests love what I do and offer. I am sorry you did not. With the bad weather I tried my best to accommodate you with a Private Tasting Experience, and not a Walking Tasting Tour. If you actually read any of the emails I sent, you would have fully understood what to expect and where to meet. I send maps and directions of where to meet, to all my guests in my Confirmation Emails and along with your PayPal Invoice. All of which you received. In all my 6 years offering tours and experiences, I have never had anyone get lost and end up where you told me the experience was supposed to start from. I called you right back when I missed your call and I came to met you. From the moment I met you I got the impression that you were going to be difficult to please and yet I tried my best under difficult circumstances. I felt you were rude to me, and often spoke over me to your friend accompanying you. However, I valued your knowledge and I appreciated it. I also learned from you. In my experience, including working with the Chocolate makers in Carcassonne, I had never come across Ruby Chocolate. So thank you for introducing me to it. Kind regards, Brent

First time in Carcassonne and we were very lucky to take this unique food walking tour in the city of Bastide ,facing the breathtaking view of Carcassonne. Brent is very friendly ,very knowledgeable himself about wines and chocolates. So many interesting information about the production of real chocolate and how to avoid the brand names . We visited one chocolaterie and two wine cellars ,where we had wine taste from total 8 bottles and accompanied with fresh baguette, cheese, humus, olives The last wine was a delicious desert sweet one and Brent offered us small chocolate for the end This tour is a must do if you visit Carcassonne.DO NOT MISS IT !
