This family trip consisted of a mother in her 80's with her son & daughter in their 50's so not quite teenagers. I can't recommend seeing this enough. It is a must if you are visiting France within a 50 mile radius. It is steeped...More

This was the highlight of our locaboat canal trip. WE received a great tip to take a taxi from Trebes as opposed to taking the canal. It saved us several hours and was only a 10 min taxi ride. The city is quite spectacular and...More

It's easy to see why the old City is the second most visited attraction in France. Beautiful architecture and steeped in history. Even so, a half day visit including a walk around the ramparts is about as much time as most people would want to...More

Yes, it is worth a stop, but no, not worth much more than a walk inside the circuit The shops and cafes are overpriced and touristy, taking away from the experience of this historical masterpiece.

Must visit site in France. Do the full audio guide for the chateau and ramparts to get the best experience. Don't forget to relax, walking/cycling /boating along the canal du midi just down the road along with visiting the bastide town with great Saturday markets....More

There is a whole village within the Cite and it is well worth the visit. You can stroll round the Cite for free but if you want to go up on the walls you need to pay. There are plenty of restaurants within the Cite.

Excellent place to visit with numerous good restaurants and cafes. Staff are excellent and friendly. Great views over Carcassonne city and surrounding country. Kids will love it also. Well worth a visit.

Castle is best visited early morning or late afternoon/evening when the crowds & school children are not there. Overall feel is very good, despite relatively recent renovations & commercialisation of shops & restaurants.

This huge fort/castle/fortification is absolutely something to behold and attempt to comprehend the construction and fine architecture required to complete over the ages. Walk the ramparts. See the movie. Get a guided tour or do an audio guide tour.

The Medieval Cite does not close.....the restaurants and bars close at varying times as in any town or city. The Cite wall lights do get turned off and it is very very dark if you are leaving late at night. Hope this helps
