Fairytale Castle with interest

Amazing place - looks like something out of Shrek or Disney but with loads of interest thrown in. Great (and reasonably priced) restaurants.

Much bigger than I expected but fascinating. We went back a second day to see things we'd missed on the first day. Lots of places to eat within the walls as well as shops but that did not spoil the effect of the walls. It was well worth paying for the commentary and visit to the castle. The views are... More

Prepare to have your breath taken away. It's stunning from a distance and awe inspiring from the ramparts, height is exciting. The cobbled streets are intricate and so romantic. The let down are the tacky shops selling swords, armour, All Blacks shirts and sweets. The castle obviously has to pay it's way, as it's free to get in the shopping... More

From the outside the City looks wonderful, once you enter however things do change. Expect the narrow streets to be crowded, the cobbled streets might be a problem for those with mobility problems. Far too many shops, most of which sell tourist tat. Did they have these in medieval times, get rid of them and get back to some originality.... More

We did a day trip from Sete and it was well worth the visit this medieval cite even though it maybe partly restored for tourists. A decent walk up to the cite from the carpark.

This is a wonderful mediaeval town complete with lists and a barbican and a chateaux - all you need to imagine yourself back in the middle ages.

Truly magical to visit at night. The exterior walls are all lit so it is a fabulous place to take photos. There are dozens of restaurants there, many of which are only so so and tend to be over priced because of location, however it's is easy to forgive when you are in such a beautiful place.

When you walk into this medieval city via one of the access ports, one never expects such a living centre! The first time i visited the city center was in the evening for dinner. Next time was around noon. You easily get lost without a map at hand. Narrow streets uphill, downhill, ... with several shops, restaurants and houses, ...... More

We arrived on the train, a quick trip on the tvg from Toulouse, from the very helpful man in the info kiosk, got a map and directions, no busses as was sunday, not a problem as a nice walk, well signposted, and would help walk off what we would have for lunch. The old city is beautiful, yes its full... More

Absolutely incredible to visit this magic place in southern France. So much history and scenery. Don't forget your camera! If you can, spend the money and stay a night in the city. Lots of souvenirs to buy etc. Really great spot to visit. Not to be missed.
