Lots of uniforms from several countries and all times, nice weapons and army gear, photographies, explanations... a nice trip into history, particularly France and its colonies

It's not the Imperial War Museum for sure, but an interesting little museum, dedicated to remembrance of French men at arms. Very friendly and enthusiastic staff. A couple of floors, with exhibits on WW1, WW2, 1st French Indo-china war & Algeria etc. Entrance is free, there's a box for donations.

We purely happened upon the Centre Culturel De La Memoire Combattante by accident. Two of us were veterans in our group and we were interested in a tour. No fee for entry, but we donated to a wounded French soldiers fund and were treated to an extensive tour by our enthusiastic and friendly guide. If you're a U.S. veteran, this... More

My 9 year old Son is very interested in the military and we popped into the centre. No entrance fee (happily made a donation). Centre was full of interesting photos, recollections, uniforms and memorabilia from French history. Our French wasn't good enough to fully understand everything but we still found it hugely worthwhile. One very happy 9 year old for... More

An excellent little place. I've been before but it was worth another visit as the exhibitions had changed. This time they covered the French in Algeria and WW2 Resistance in the area. Both different and thought provoking. It also has an excellent small library.

Totally agree with previous review that the guide made something out of not very much interest to me.Very close to the Medieval city walls, just before the painted walls.

We visited this small museum whilst staying in Carcassonne. We were shown around by the guide(an ex soldier) who explained everything to us in excellent English. It was mainly to do with French military history. There was a section that dealt with World war 11 and events in the local area which was very interesting. It is to be found... More
