Our guide, Olivia, picked us up directly from our hotel in Toulouse. On the way to Carcassonne, we stopped to see the Canal Midi. Olivia explained why, when and how it was built. We traveled a little further and we stopped at Chateau Auzias, a small family owned winery, for a tour and wine tasting, then lunch at a small, beautiful restaurant on the outskirts of Carcassonne. The food was delicious and the prices very reasonable. After lunch, we drove to the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Fortified City of Carcassonne. Olivia knows the history and the city very well. She did a fantastic job explaining the history of the city and all who inhabited the area. Olivia has a very comfortable car, an excellent driver and we enjoyed getting to know her. Thank you Olivia for a great tour!

Touring with Olivia was wonderful! She contacted me a few days before our tour to confirm and solidify details. She arranged the tour thoughtfully with our requests and cleverly adjusted for weather as well which allowed us the best view from Montsegur. Montsegur is a moderate to rigorous hike so do not attempt it unequipped but it is enchanting once you get there. I love a good mountain vista. It was a perfect hike to share with an active family with older children. Olivia is a calm and thoughtful guide who provided just enough information along the way. I would like to come back for more exploring and would definitely enjoy touring with Olivia again. My tip is to use WhatsApp for contact as texting is not as reliable in this region.

Absolutely fantastic tour and A+ service from beginning to end. We were in Carcassonne for just 2nts and were looking for a private tour of castle ruins and help with arranging a tour of another Cathar castle that no other tour company was able to arrange. Olivia was the perfect choice, as she was able to arrange both the private day tour and a visit at the remote Cathar castle, Chateau Puivert.
The day began with Olivia meeting us at our hotel and then we proceeded to a local deli to pick up our lunches for later in the day. We then continued to the Lastours castle ruins and spent many hours hiking and exploring, while Olivia provided us with background information on what we were seeing. From there we returned to Carcassonne and continued the tour around the city walls, and within, finishing with a visit to the church next to our hotel.
I would highly recommend Olivia and Travel Real France if you find yourself in the Carcassonne region.

My wife and I had been wanting to travel to Carcasonne for several years. We finally took the plunge and spent 10 days in the region - 2 days in Toulouse, 4 days in Carcasonne, 2 days in Montpellier, and 2 days in Avignon. Olivia met us at the airport in Toulouse and we spent six full days with her as we toured the region. She showed us exactly what we wanted to see, and then so much more that we didn’t know about.
Her knowledge of the region is incredibly thorough. We felt completely immersed in the history and culture of SW France. She was extremely well prepared for each day. Her ability to connect with us and understand what our interests led to an unbelievable experience. And the food, she knew exactly where to take us to have some of the best food we have ever tasted. Lastly, she speaks several languages and her English is impeccable.
We not only would highly recommend Olivia for anyone traveling to this area, but we will definitely go back and have her guide us again. She made a trip of a lifetime extraordinary and unforgettable. 5 stars is not enough, we rate Olivia 100 stars!

Olivia was fantastic with my family and I! She was friendly and professional every single day from picking us up in Toulouse to dropping us in Nimes. She has an incredible knowledge of the history of this region, plus so much experience that she knows all the interesting villages, splendid sights and delicious food. In addition, she moves seamlessly from French to English and back again that it truly made us experience the people and the culture in a way that we never could have on our own. She always went out of her way to make sure that we had a wonderful trip, and I cannot recommend her highly enough!

Olivia is a spectacular guide - professional, with deep roots in the region, and with so much knowledge of history and culture. We felt like we made a wonderful connection and felt so welcomed to Languedoc. We toured Albi and Cordes-sur-Ciel, and she was really engaging for a three generation family. We would love to come back and spend another day with Olivia!

We set up a completely custom 5 days of tours with Olivia and she FAR EXCEEDED our expectations. She is great at communicating with you, her knowledge is deep and thorough especially S. France and Cathar country. She is very personable - really listens to you, cares about your needs and comfort (pace on hikes, pace of the days, flexible, Great at choosing local restaurants for lunch!). She is organized, plans ahead and is open to suggestions.
We've been touring privately for years and she is Truly Top Notch. We will stay in touch and be sure to contact her first (like we did for this trip) when we start planning our next trip to the South of France.

Olivia took excellent care of our group! We started the day tasting sparkling in Limoux at Guinot! We learned the history, walked through the wine making operations and of course, tasted the delicious bubbles. A perfect start to any day of wine tasting. Olivia assisted with English translation for us. Next we headed to lunch at Domaine Gayda, a winery where we overlooked the vineyards on an idyllic day. We indulged in a 3 course feast and more wine, and a bit of coffee with dessert. Lastly we concluded at a wonderful winery that boasted many varietals and styles for a real taste of the Malepère region: Domaine La Louvière. Olivia was with us the whole time, answering questions, providing context and overall just being the best guide ever! If you are considering a tour of the area, book Olivia!

We booked Olivia for clients visiting Toulouse that wanted a full day private tour with lunch at a Chateau, wine tasting and a visit to Carcassonne. We received some great feedback as follows

I had an amazing tour of the Occitanie region of France. I previously visited 5 years prior, so it was my second time in the region. The van was a really great size. It was big enough to be comfortable, but small enough to get around all of the small roads. Olivia is an excellent driver and tour guide. She was always so pleasant to talk to. I spent a memorable 7 days touring this part of France, and I hope to return in the future to check out some different sites.

We will be staying at Chateau Carnet and understand you do tours in the region. We are a party of 6 adults and 1 child. We are looking for tours the week of August 6 to 11 with the exception of August 10.
