We spent 10 days in the Saint Louis area and it was a very nice experience. The people were friendly and kind and were very helpful with my very bad French. Many people spoke some English and even without would be helpful with small things. Very, very nice bookstore and shops. Excellent butcher, wine shop, cheese shop, produce stand and some outstanding Boulangerie Patisserie shops!!! There is also a wonderful Pharmacy, my husband caught a cold and they were very helpful. Everything you might need is within easy walking distance. I would highly recommend staying in the area - it is relaxing and a short walk from the Palace and the center of Versailles.

I discovered Quartier Saint-Louis neighbourhood by accident whilst strolling along the streets of Versailles. The cathedral of Saint Louis is the main attraction however there are some lovely rocaille & neoclassical facades scattered around the market square & cathedral. Well worth the effort to find.

Quarter Saint Louis is a historic neighborhood in Versailles. One must take a walk through this quarter to see amazing historic monuments such as saint louis cathedral and jeu de paume room. Amazing place to take a stroll in the evening.

An elegant area with some lovely little bistros and shops leading onto the grand boulevards and attractions of this set-piece city. There's a cathedral and many quaint old squares with wonderful architecture.

We were lucky enough to stay in an apartment in the area and loved going out every morning for coffee and to buy our food for the day - so many small shops slewing wonderful prepared foods as well as pastries and butchers if you really wanted to cook. I would recommend this area if you have an extended stay in Versailles- about a 15 minute walk to the Notre Dame market and 10 minutes to Versailles.

We discovered the block by chance while strolling around before taking the train back to Paris.
The buildings' architecture is really beautiful. The area is full of shops and boutiques.
Worth seeing as we still has some energy after a day visiting Versailles castle's wonders.

It's the old part of the city, and seems to keep its Roi-soleil-period charme. There are nice building and small antiquities shops, squares with small gardens, everything very well kept.

Is there much to do here on a Sunday morning? We are going to see the palace etc on Saturday, and staying overnight. Is anything open on a Sunday?
