On a Sunday, we left Paris at 11am on the train to Versailles and stopped here first for picnic supplies before renting bikes at the Queen's gate and riding to the Grand Canal for lunch before entering the gardens and Chateau. It was a magical day.
My daughter loved the outdoor markets in France and this one did not disappoint. We got crepes and produce for our picnic. We needed to pay in cash and use a little French. I find the hubbub exciting but it could seen a little overwhelming if you aren't used to anything but a quiet grocery store.

This attractive market is close to the Versailles cathedral and has a sizeable outdoor section with many stalls selling flowers, fruits and vegetables, etc. The covered Hall section is in a small heritage building. The market is worth a visit but you need to check their opening times before making your way there. The covered Food Hall and the open air section opens on their own respective timings. We went on a Sunday- the market only opens in the morning. The produce is of excellent quality but prices appear very high.

The Versailles Market is located Place de Notre Dame on rue de la Paroisse two blocks from Notre Dame Cathedrale (in Versailles) and about a ten minutes walk from the castle . A feast for the eyes as well as the tongue. Created by Louis XIV there are stalls with fruit, vegetables, herbs, spices, honey, bread, cheese , flowers and an indoors market with luxury foods like chocolate, wine, liqueur, fois gras, paté confit de canard and fresh fish, meat, cold cuts, and catered dishes. The food market is open Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays from 7AM-2PM. The non food market consists of stalls with clothes, hand bags, leather goods, household goods, watches and various other items . It is on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays 11AM-7PM.
Just off the market place narrow winding cobble-stoned alleys lead through The Antique Village with antique shops and galleries.
Cafés and good restaurants are all around the area . A great place to spend some time browsing the stalls and shops and to have a meal. Nearby also: l'Espace Richaud, a recently renovated hospital with gardens, fountain and chapel .

The buzzing markets in Versailles were sensational. Such an amazing variety of fresh produce - fruit, veg, seafood, meats, flowers, rotisserie chicken, cheeses and gourmet goods. A true highlight to our visit to Versailles. Highly recommend!

My family and I went to the Market before we went to the Versailles Palace. The summer fruit was so delicious. The strawberries were so sweet & red all of the way through, it felt like it was the first time we ever ate a strawberry in our lives. It was during the summer heatwave. We purchased some items from a Sausage stand owned by Karine & Bruno. I needed a taxi because it was just too far for my Mother to walk to the palace because of the heat. Bruno flagged down a car and his friend Isabelle drove us over there. Super nice people! For the best Sausage, please stop by Karine & Bruno’s stand. Great Market!

This is an open market in Versailles. Normally the stalls/shops are more on Saturday and Wednesday. You find clothings, cosmetics, accessories, household items, shoes, travel bags, handbags etc.... I enjoyed very much. A good shopping experience for a low/medium end. There is a nearby bus stop. Shall go and experience if you are going to Versailles area.

We were lucky to be staying just around the corner from the market. We bought dinner there every day. There are four permanent building with great fresh food and helpful staff. On Friday there was a v popular produce market.
I guess most visitors just come for the day to visit the palace and go back to Paris. But they are missing out. Yes there isn't loads to do in town but what there is is very interesting and this market is one of them. A must to visit.

Stopped here to pick up some reasonably priced foods to carry in for a fantastic picnic in Versailles. Lots of fresh fruits, veggies, cheese, meats and of course delicious bread to make a great lunch. Don't forget a bottle of wine, which the shop included a few disposable wine glasses. Everything was delicious, especially the cherries. Every vendor offers samples to taste, so try several things before settling on your choice.

Good local market with fresh food, cheese and other local produce being sold. Not a huge market though.
