I highly recommend to read or watch movies about the french history especially the era before the french revolution before your visit. I mostly enjoyed the gardens more than the castel. They are extremely beautiful especially during good weather.

My daughter and I ventured to Versailles on a rainy Sunday morning. The journey by van was a tourist delight....traveling out of Paris and into the city of Versailles gave us a chance to see many sights along the way. Arriving in Versailles, our driver dropped us off for our tour. We met our scheduled guide and entered the chateau... More

The regally opulent Château de Versailles is France’s most famous palace. This was the political capital and seat of the royal court from 1682 to 1789. Once home to King Louis XIV, today it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Hall of Mirrors, in particular, is mindblowing! Other highlights include the apartments, the chapel and the gardens. The palace is... More

Be sure to visit Chateau de Versailles when you are in France. You will be awed by the grand, splendid palace and its the one in the world lavish garden. Words can not express my feeling while walking along the tall-neatly-trimmed-tree lined path, filled with sculpture.

Many people miss this tour because indeed it is far from paris and the transportation is confusing, but there are organised tours that make things easier. You would need to spend a day for this , while paris its self is more fascinating . The queus are really annoying there, almost offensive and there are no clear directions for anything.... More

Seriously, it does not matter how many days you're staying in Paris, but you've got to save a whole morning or afternoon to visit the Palace of Versailles. It's a live history class, all the rooms and its furniture, the gardens, the Hall of Mirrors.... A must do: when finish the tour inside the castle, buy yourself a box of... More

We bought tickets in advance from the concierge at the hotel to avoid the lines but the ticket purchasing line is short - it's the line to get in that is long. The line wrapped around about five times so was rather discouraging to find this on arrival. Also the waiting area where the line snakes around is cobble stones... More

We went to Paris on a day trip while staying in Belgium. We planned to visit both Louvre Museum and Versailles in a short few hours. Luckily on that day, there were not a long line to enter. While waiting outside, we saw soldiers patrolling with their machine guns. It just a little unnerving. But on the other hand it's... More

I was so glad I went a little out of the way to see this amazing Chateau. You can access by train and a short walk from the train. The architecture detail and the stunning gardens, fountains and grounds of this property are breathtaking. To stroll along the paths where royalty did all those years ago really left with me...
