Let's just say that Let's just say the French Republic doesn`t like kings very much and therefore their statues are few. And in Versailles there are even two statues of Louis IV, one inside made by the great Bernini, and this one. The piquancy of the situation is that the statue doesn`t even have one sculptor. Or rather, there are two of them. Pierre Cartellier had only time to build a horse and died. Moreover, the horse was intended for the statue of Louis XIV's great-grandson king Louis XV. Louis Petitot, Cartellier's son-in-law, sculpted a statue of the king himself. The king and the horse are of different proportions, which doesn`t contribute to perception.

You can't visit France without understanding the impact this King made on its history. This statue honors and represents a time when France ruled.

Located in front of the grand entrance to the Palace of Versailles. This monument is a good place to meet your fellow travellers in preparation to begin the tour of this marvellous attraction of Paris.

The monument of Louis XIV greets guests prior to the entrance of the Palace and Gardens. It is probably one of the most photographed statues in Versailles.

Louis XIV welcoming you to the palace that he built. Not that a grand reminder was needed to remind us who was the builder but the monument is in that perfect spot....

This is a rather imposing statue, located in d'Armes square, nearby the entrance to the palace.
Its strategic location makes it a common place for group gatherings, prior to standing in the endless queues of their palace tour.

The bronze equestrian statue of the king is located at the entrance to the palace of Versailles. The king is depicted riding a horse and pointing to something with his right hand. The statue is placed on a rectangular stone pedestal.
It is a great spot for selfies with the palace in the background.

First object one sees as approaching the great Palace It is a classic mounted statue and rightly as imposing as his famous palace legacy.
