I was there early Sunday morning and it was already busy but non threatening and good atmosphere. In front of the station one can smoke and there were a few shifty characters but didn‘t approach me. Beautiful building and good shops and yammy food!

look at that clock tower!! a very busy station, with both TGV, local and metro trains leaving here. A great central location for exploring paris - mostly on Metro line 1.

Like any large train station this one also has the appearance and feel of insanity. People rushing around, people screaming at each other and distances to cover. Begging abounds, although they're not persistent. Hall 1 and Hall 2 are 2 decidedly different things and involve...More

Very efficient. Got a train to Burgundy (Beaune). Like the way the platforms are laid out. The waiting areas provides good views of arriving trains, and the Schedule Board. Boarding process is very efficient. There can be lines at the ticket office (needed to get...More

We use Gare de Lyon when we take the TGV to the south of France. Easy access. And lots of fun taking the TGV.

The smell of stale urine was overwhelming. Beware of pickpockets, beggars and drug users . A very unpleasant, ghastly experience.

Nestled between the Seine, Bastille, and Père Lachaise
lies a peaceful side of town where wide avenues and
impressive buildings accompany green spaces and small

Park to La Coulée Verte and most impressively the Bois
de Vincennes, which even contains a medieval castle on
its doorstep. For an escape from the masses head to
this calming neighborhood where real Parisians make

Usually there are lockers in every station but I don‘t know where they are exactly at this station. Just ask at the informstion desk at the entrance or give them a call. Enjoy!

Check out Restaurant L'arrosoir, which is just down the road on Avenue Daumesnil. Some reviewers did not like it as much as we did, but we thought the salads were very good.
