Address
Neighborhood: Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.

I recommend ! We weren't expecting anything special and were pleasantly surprised. The sommelier was very educational and made the experience fun and accessible. The wines were excellent! We made two wines with my partner and had a great time, we can't wait to let our bottles age and taste them.
Thanks to Clément the sommelier!

We enjoyed our wine tasting and cave tour very much. Our under age teenagers were also entertained by the many hands on exhibits. Worth a visit.

We went through with this particular tour as it was a part of the Paris Pass. The website and several reviews claim free wine to take home at the end. We finished a mediocre tour where our guide couldnt answer fundamental questions. We were dismissed.

I gently inquired two seperate employees about what wine I should take as a part of the tour. The first had firmly told me that it is only given to patrons who do the self guided tour. At my correction of her mis assignment to the group tpur she became increasingly firm and rude stating that they were no longer giving out the wine and that it is Paris Pass' fault for not changing their website anymore.

I asked our tour guide as well who was oddly quiet and firm about the subject.

Overall I wouldnt recommend at this point since they are not fullfilling their advertisement. Additionally the amount of knowledge actually provided by the tour guide is pretty fundamental, and could be at this point be achieved by some gentle sesrching online. Finally it was annoying that there was an open request for good ratings on trip advisor in the setting of the two issues above.

Others left disappointed and confused as well regarding the lack of take home wine.

My wife and I would not have discovered this opportunity without the Paris Pass--and we are very glad we did. The "tour" of the caves is quite well conceived, where different rooms are dedicated to stimulating the sight, smell, touch, and taste of grapes and wine. There is a lot of good background information about grapes and winemaking along the way; one can take in more or less of it according to taste. The tour culminates with a tasting of three wines. The taste sizes were quite generous (all three together probably equalled a glass of wine) but what put it over the top for us was the depth of knowledge of the sommelier who was pouring. We were there at a quiet time and were able to ask him lots of questions about different winegrowing regions in France. I think I learned more in that 15 minutes about French wine than I had in all my life up to that point. When you leave, each person who takes the tour gets to bring a bottle of wine home for free. The free bottles are the house white and house red; you can upgrade to some other selections for an additional 7E. All in all, a very good use of an hour and we are looking forward to sampling our two full bottles when we get home!

This was by far one of our favorite experiences in Paris. This is a hidden gem. It is much different than a wine tasting in the United States. This experience really engages the participants in how wine in produced, what tastes come from grapes, the different types of plants and soils with their influence on taste, and many other interesting facts. The history of the building is also fascinating. My husband and I had a custom label put on a bottle of wine, as well. We will definitely be going back here and plan to add a blog post about it in the near future.

Booked a visit to les Caves du Louvre and was totally blown away with the site. Interactive displays gave understanding of the wine making process. But the best part was the tasting at the completion, along with the bottles we took away. The barman at the end was great, very interested in where we were from and the wines produced.

We enjoyed our visit to Les Caves du Louvre wine workshop. First, the building itself is very nice and has an interesting history. Second, the staff were very welcoming. Third, the winemaking session was loose and fun-- not the least bit stuffy or pretentious (one of the group's amateur wine-blenders certainly was, but he won't be in your group). Fourth, getting to bottle, label and seal your own personal blend gave us a real sense of satisfaction.

Also, I stupidly double-booked our reservations, and they were understanding about my mistake and quickly refunded the difference, which I appreciate very much.

We haven't tried our bottles yet, so who knows, but no matter what the experience was memorable.

Not very far to work from the hotel and staff were very friendly and helpful. Unique exploration of the royal cellars and the underground was not for those who suffer from small spaces. Once again the stairs stopped the disabled

Dear Mike D, Thank you for your feedback. As you said les Caves du Louvre were the royal cellar for the palace of le Louvre, beginning of the 18' century. Nowadays, it is more than 600 square meters of wine museum where you can discover many precisions about French wines (and of course taste some of them!!). Les Caves du Louvre are not accessible to people in wheelchairs because the Caves are a 9 meters depth cellar. Les Caves du Louvre team wish you the best for the future!

A group of four of us went on the tasting tour a couple of weeks ago and had the place to ourselves. The host was extremely helpful and informative, and there were plenty of free samples to enjoy.

I order some wine from their shop as well and it arrived a couple of weeks later well packed and intact.

If you're looking for an hour or so to kill in Paris then this is definitely worth a visit.

WE went here after visiting the Louvre and had such a pleasant evening. Tasting of three wines and an explanation of the regions, terroir and grapes. Our guide was very helpful and thorough. You can do more tastings but we did the 3 wine tasting because we were going for dinner afterwards
