I Googled roof top bars and best places for a view in Paris and this is one of the options that came up. It's on the 9th floor of the holiday Inn. The Holiday Inn is in a great location and easy to get to. You should make a reservation. At the hotel reception you tell them you're there to go to their terrace bar and they ask if you have a reservation or they turn you away. They issue you an access card for the elevator. We went for 10pm to see the Eiffel tower twinkle but the place only had 5 tables in use out of 20. By the time we left shortly after 11pm 2/3 of the tables were full.
The waitress provided the menus and then came back a few minutes later to take our order. Our chairs were oriented towards the tower and we were watching it sparkle which it only does for a few minutes right at 10pm. She stood directly in our line of view and waited till we chose something which we hadn't done yet as we were distracted by the pretty view of the tower and literally got into our chair 10 seconds before it started.
After that she brought us our drinks relatively quickly and we didn't see her until I walked over to get her attention even though we had finished our drinks 15 minutes earlier.
Cocktails are 15-17 euro. Bottled beer is 7 euro. The view is not amazing but it's nice and good for celebrating special occasions.

We didn't stay in the hotel as we had an apartment nearby but my husband had heard of the rooftop bar so we decided to pop over last night. Naturally, we were met with "do you have a reservation?" (Neither of us knew about this but were not surprised). Both men "informed"us of the difficulty to get in, nothing available until July 4, etc.
Then voila, the manager whips out an elevator pass for us. I guess he figured making money was better than turning us away. (Hey it was a Tuesday night!).
I can't say enough about the beautiful sunset we saw...just spectacular!! Not all tables were full. People came & left frequently. We were lucky to snag a table near the edge.
We ordered two martinis...one was good, the grey goose Cosmo tasted like watered down cranberry juice (no vodka???)...we try ordering one more, get two...it was a circus ! I believe they were training wait staff & bartender both. The head waiter was nice, no charge for the bad drink.
Go for the view, that's all I can say. The place has SO much potential if they just get organized.

We went up on September 7 evening and just made it in time for the sunset. Haggled a bit with the bartender at the lobby, the unofficial "gatekeeper". We sweet-talked him into fast-tracking a table for us. Once on the rooftop we had a pleasant experience with the friendly server, reasonable menu price, and gorgeous 360 view of Paris. It was chilly as there was a breeze. Restaurant offers blankets but if you can, bring an extra layer.
Wife was awestruck, wine and antipasto plate oiled the mood even further. Go for it!

We did visit this bar and I must say when we did go it was a really lovely view and setting. We were lucky enough to be 'granted permission' from the receptionist on the night after waiting in reception.
We wanted to visit again the next night (our anniversary) we were told by the bar staff no reservation needed just turn up again.
So we took the train and went to receptionist who said a firm NO!
We explained we had been there the day before and she would not listen to anything we had to say just kept interrupting saying, sorry, no, sorry, full etc.
her name was Tanya, she really was the most rude hotel receptionist I have ever met.
Having spent 15 years in the travel industry I have pretty much travelled the world. And this receptionist really did get under my skin.
We would have booked a table the day before if it was necessary and like other reviews have pointed out, we too emailed weeks before which were ignored.
It is such a shame because the views are really quite spectacular from this bar.
Maybe Tanya had a bad day, but she completely ruined the reputation of the holiday inn brand for me, needless to say I will not use this chain again and I won't be sending my clients to this hotel in the near future, the Raphael hotel has a beautiful terrace and the staff know the importance of customer service there and want to take your hard earned money.
Never again. 👎🏼

I'm calling this a review despite not going to this bar on the roof of the holiday inn in Paris. We had read positive things about this being a very romantic spot with a great view of the Eiffel Tower despite the expensive drink prices. We stopped in on the day of our arrival to make a reservation, as I had read that you could not get in without one. We were told that to make a reservation you had to email the manager of the club. This already smacked of bad service. No phone number to call, no actual person on site to speak to. However, I dutifully wrote THREE emails with no response. After the first two, I called the hotel and they told me that if you did not get a reply to your email, they were booked for that evening. More great customer service. So I emailed yet again, no response. The long and short of it is this; if these folks are that successful that they can afford to be so rude as to not even give the courtesy of a response saying that they have no availability, God bless them, they don't need my business. If you should choose to try to get in, I wish you better luck, but you have been warned.

I have been to Paris many times but never knew about this place. Its a great place to go have a drink and see the amazing views of literally every Paris monument. You can see Eiffel tower, the Louvre, Les Invalides, Sacre Coeur etc. Amazing location. Its in the Holiday in in the St. Michel area. You must call them and reserve ahead of time (not sure why but you do). Check in at the front desk and they give you a key card to access the rooftop elevator. Drinks are about 15 euros a piece so a little spendy, but of course you are paying for the view. Its well worth it!

As you can see from the picture the view is absolutely AMAZING. BUT...
The DRINKS ARE AWFUL.
I mean, if you consider yourself a cocktail bar, the minimum is to have goo cocktails.
It's okay to spend a little bit considering the view, but at least for a basic quality.
This is under the average: wine= awful; spritz= water; not to talk about the cocktail they brought me...
It's a pity, considering the view, but since it's not the only terrace in Paris, we won't come back.
The service is just ok. But again, a little bit under the average.
To go upstairs they gave us a card that didn't work, but since it was the first time we, togheter with other people, went up and down 4 time.

It's really a pity for me to write this review. The experience seemed very promising..
There were 8 of us, a mixed group of friends. We had made the reservation 18 days in advance.
Once we got to the reception we were told to go to the downstairs bar where a much deceiving waiter made us wait for 25mn before paying any attention to us (he was alone and there was a couple at the bar; still 25mn is too long).
He told us the upstairs bar was closed, we had to order drinks and snacks downstairs.
We order everything (4 different drinks and 2 planchas of snacks); he takes 15mn to serve us the drinks, no news from the snacks. The beer had no foam, he spilled half a cocktail on his way to the elevator. Only 1 out of 3 elevators were working.
We were seated at a table for 6, the other 2 were told to stand; however there were 7 EMPTY tables which we could have had for a group of 8 people...
The cold snacks took another 25mn to arrive.
In all, only the view was awesome; good service, attention to detail, kindness were all missing. Such a pity for such a great place. So much wasted potential..

We obviously got lucky here reading other reviews but we went on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Asked at reception how we access the rooftop and she said if you buy a drink at main lobby bar the bartender may agree to let you up. So we did and she did. We had the rooftop to ourselves which was wonderful. As I say maybe we just got lucky but what a way to end our trip!!

How can I book a table for the rooftop bar?
Written June 3, 2016
You need to email the manager. I had to email twice before I got a response. Not sure why they act like they are so exclusive, but c'est la vie. :)
