Sarah our chef, smiled the entire class! She was an absolute delight!! She was very inviting, warm, kind and patient (we had lots of questions)! She took time to explain everything and answer all of our questions, relevant or not. She is amazing at what she does. Not everyone can reach, but she was one of the best. The cooking studio was easy to find, well labeled from the outside and clean. Highly recommend it to anyone who is willing to treat themselves and learn a lot in 3hrs.

Sara is knowledgeable, funny and allows students to have hands on experience. Cookin With Class is always a great experience. I have done classes at other schools and only one ( it is gone thanks go Covid) came close. For my money and time Cookin with class is the way to go. I learn so much, have fun and get my questions answered. Last but not least we get to savor our efforts in an excellent way. This time we had wine and cheese to go with out baguette. We got to take any of our efforts we wanted with us, one of my Brioche rolls made it all the way back to the US and was a wonderful treat a few days later ( yes it was still just as fresh without preservatives!)

My sister and i thoroughly enjoyed the French market class with chef Dominique. He was so informative as we shopped for top quality ingredients from prize winning merchants. I love to cook but still learned some awesome tips. I would highly recommend Cook n' with Class. to food lovers visiting Paris.

This was definitely more of a watching experience rather than cooking. I assumed that we would have individual stations and make macaroons individually or with partners, unfortunately this is not the case. The room was very small and there were 8 of us with the chef, it was a hot day and the air conditioning was not working (the implication was that it is never working). There was a fan in the hall outside so you could walk out to cool down and I was able to fetch water, but it was very uncomfortable. We were situated around a table and it was very difficult to see what the chef was doing as he was on the opposite side of the table and there was no room to walk around. We also had a young child in our group (an 11 year old) so it was focused and structured for that age group. They were invited to help out at certain stages, but again, no one else could see. We were not given a recipe on the day, although when I emailed afterwards I was told to expect one by email after two weeks. The session was based on the assumption that you have no baking experience, perhaps because of the young child in our session? I felt that I would have gained more from watching an online tutorial. It was a shame as I was really looking forward to this experience with the idea that I would be making the macarons myself.

Response from Cook'N W, Manager at Cook' n With Class Paris
Responded 2 weeks ago
Hello Kathryn, Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I am so sorry to hear about your experience in our macaron class this past August. Europe was hit this summer with an unprecedented heatwave that our existing system was not able to handle. We will be upgrading this as it seems that these episodes which were once very rare may be a part of our future. We apologize for any discomfort. Recipes for our classes are sent to you via email to be received within 7-10 business days. This is mainly for our classes such as the market class where the chef needs to write up the recipe which is created based on your market finds. 99% of the time you will receive the recipes well before that time and it is always a good idea to check your spam folder to be sure it has not been misfiled. Our apologies for any delay you experienced in receiving the recipes. Some of our classes, including the 3-hour macaron class, are open to adults and to a limited number of children from the age of 10 as long as they are in the class with a participating adult. While the class will allow for children of this age, we do not lower the level of the class to accommodate children but do try to assist ALL participants regardless of their skill level. This is a difficult thing to assess when we do not know the participants ahead of time. Some children are better cooks than some adults and vice versa. We ask parents to use their discretion as this is an adult class. We do offer a parent/child class - the macaron en famille which is a 2-hour class open to one parent + one child between ages 6-12 working together. We do not have individual stations due to space limitations and our desire to not create too much waste. It is difficult to make for example 1/7th of croissant dough and to make a full recipe would involve quite a bit of waste. The same applies to the macaron class. Over 100 macarons are prepared in the class on average which requires a certain quantity of meringue. We involve participants in all the steps of the macaron-making process but it sounds as if in your class you were unable to participate as much as you desired and I apologize for that. We have spoken with the chef and he will improve this in his subsequent classes because, YES, our classes are hands-on. I encourage you to contact us directly to further discuss your review if you wish.
