Such a fun and unique experience! The Haunted Paris Tour was spooky, interesting, and exactly what we were hoping for while visiting the city. The stories were rich and elaborate; it really makes you feel like you’re standing there watching the true events take place. Matt was very friendly, engaging, and knew soooo much about Paris (not just about the local haunting). He also provided some great recommendations for bars/restaurants that we visited after the tour. Would highly recommend! 5 stars all the way! Thank you Matt!!!

The first thing that was super evident on Matt's tour is that he's well and truly done his research. This wasn't just a tour with spooky stories, it was also packed with intriguing historical facts, and we could ask all sorts of questions along the way. I also really appreciated how he's managed to still make the Notre Dame part relevant and interesting, despite it being under construction.
As a solo traveller, Matt made me feel super comfortable, and is a perfect tour guide. I think the amount of walking, stops and standing was bang on perfect, and I would highly recommend this tour to people visiting Paris - even if you've been before. This was my sixth time to Paris and I wish I'd done this the first time round.

We took two tours with Matt- Versailles and one of the Marais district. We liked the first one so much we booked the second for the next day! Matt is so knowledgeable and he made a huge place like Versailles seem manageable, and warm. The walking tour of the Marais was fantastic- he took us to places we never would have know existed. Thank you Matt for helping to make our trip so memorable! Highly recommend.

My cousin and I planned a trip to Germany for Oktoberfest this past September, but ended up flying in and out of Paris because it's the only direct flight to Europe our area airport offered. We didn't plan on staying in Paris hardly at all, but I was told about Paris by Foot by a mutual friend Matt and I share, so I decided to check it out. Since we only had a total of four days in Paris, we decided to book a custom VIP package through Matt to maximize our time there, and we were very happy with our decision.
Matt took care of pre-booking a lot of the attractions, which saved us a lot of time waiting in line at places like Versailles and the Louver. We essentially covered all of the attractions in all of his walking tours and then some via a combination of walking and subway rides. He also showed us a side that tourists might otherwise not experience including: a picnic at a park along the river, a few restaurants favored by locals (my favorite was the Crepe place he took us to) and we also got to experience some of the nightlife.
It was awesome being able to sit back and take everything in while Matt took the reigns on the majority of the planning. He provided us with several options for each day and allowed us to pick what we wanted to do. I thought it was awesome not having to worry about finding my own way around the city and dealing with the language barrier since I don't speak ANY French. I would definitely recommend booking a VIP Tour with Paris By Foot if you're looking for a informative, relaxing and extensive view of the city in a short amount of time!

I reluctantly booked a walking tour through Père Lachaise Cemetery on a disgustingly hot day last summer in Paris with my girlfriends, and I am SO glad that I did! Our tour guide, Matt, was friendly, relaxed and super informative.
We were a group of 5 ladies, and it was so nice to be in such a small, intimate group. Even though none of us were huge history buffs, Matt had us totally engaged in Parisian history!!! We got some great info on the different monuments and structures in the cemetery, and learned a lot of funny/strange/cool facts throughout the tour as well. I thought that visiting a cemetery would be rather dreary, but it ended up being one of my favourite afternoons in the city!
To top it all off, after we finished our walk, Matt sat down with us, and wrote down a list of restaurants, cafes, bars and museums that were must sees.... And EVERY single place that he suggested was fantastic!!!!
I cannot say enough great things about this tour! Thanks, Paris by Foot - and I hope to come back for another tour in Paris again soon :)

I’ve been a little delayed getting this review in, but wanted to make sure I shared how great the tours we took were! My Mother and I booked two tours through the company... on both, we were lucky enough to get Matt as a guide. He is fantastic... very knowledgeable and entertaining! We absolutely loved learning about “haunted Paris.” Such a fun way to spend a night! On our tour of Montmartre, I learned so much. I’ve been to the neighbourhood in the past, but this time, I got to see all the hidden gems! The tours were highlights of the trip- highly recommended!

These free walking tours are amazing and happen twice everyday. Information is readily available online and in hostels for bag packers and students on a budget. New Europe is a great organisation that conducts these walking tours. I have seen there pamphlet across countries in europe but i tried them only in Paris and they were Superb. We started the tour in St. Michael and went on to notre dame cathedral and then along the seine river towards the louvre, conconrd etc. All these places are near by and easily walkable and i insist that you should walk while your on holiday as your discover and experience more. The tour guide was a girl and was amazing and she kept us entertained while giving us facts about parisian history, art and culture. Me and my friends started clicking pictures and got distracted and lost our group but i believe others had a great time. Also arc d triumph is nearby and champs elysee is the high end street you want to walk while your in Paris.

We took five our family to Paris and made plans to see Versailles with a personalized tour. Matt Hayman, the owner of Paris By Foot Walking Tours, provided us an outstanding experience. He was able to expertly navigate us around the crowds and long lines to enter in a separate entrance, provided us with audio phones and excellent commentary and explanation about the palace. Educated in French history, he had much more information to offer than the average tour guide and was also fun to be with! We recommend Matt and his company highly and will book him again when next in Paris. Marilyn and Paul Whisenand

Our guide Matt met us outside the Shakespeare and company book store for the start of a 1.5km walk with lots of stops ending up at the Fountaine des Innocentes near Les Halles. Our group size was only 9 people so it was great as you can ask lots of questions and really interact. Matt was funny and engaging and the descriptions of the ghosts (and gruesome crimes) had just the right amount of "terror" in them. Would not have seen the sights or heard about the haunted history of this area of Paris without booking this tour. Some of the ghosts of Paris, included the children of Rue des Chantres, the Dame of Notre Dame and the site of the murder of Henri IV of France by François Ravaillac (The surname is still banned in most areas of France). Great fun!

My partner and I enjoyed our walking tour of the Marais area with Matt. The area itself is full of interesting history and dripping with culture. Matt gave us an insight into life in the Marais area and was happy to answer questions and give recommendations. Highly recommended.

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to book in for this tour? Unable to find a website. Also is it a free tour that’s tip based?
Thanks

Hello.
You can click "visit website" on the tripadvisor listing. This is not a free tour which means the groups are smaller and the tour guides are higher quality. :)
