Alisa led my sister-in-law and I on a fun and interesting "Royal treatment" food tour in the St Germain district. She discussed how Parisians shop and pace their meals, while showing us through Le Bon Marche (including its huge selections of gourmet foods, including an entire staffed "truffle bar"). She then took us to a variety of specialty shops, explaining (as we tasted) how various cheeses are made, describing types of pate, helping us choose sweets,and leading us in a tasting of armagnacs and ports. Finally, she took us to a small restaurant, spread out our feast, and we enjoyed it as she regaled us with anecdotes of life for Americans in Paris. Two thumbs up! Alisa is a fun, knowledgeable guide. She was a pastry chef and has written five cookbooks, and seems to know every specialty shop owner in Paris. Try her tours! We think they're great.…
