you must visit the Boulevard Saint-Germain, this passage opened in 1735, linking the rue Saint-André des Arts and the Rue de l'Ancienne Comédie. It houses the Procope, it was the meeting place for writers and intellectuals.

I was with my daughter and daughter-in-law while they shopped at the shops along Boulevard Saint Germain when we stumbled upon this small cobblestone passageway. (I actually think one of them was looking for a particular shop that was located here.) The passageway contains some unique shops and restaurants and is very peaceful and relaxing, especially compared to the hectic pace and traffic of the nearby boulevard. While standing in a shop that sold spices, pastries and ice cream, I suddenly realized that I had actually been there before. Memories flooded back of a previous trip to Paris years ago with me standing around in nearly the exact spot as my loving wife bought spices to take back home. Oh, sweet memories!

There are many passages of Paris, each has its own story to tell. The relatively short Cour du Commerce has the back door to Le Procope, a few cafes to pass the time, and a few interesting shops. The ancient cobblestone street holds the story of the invention of the guillotine. A worth while detour especially if you are strolling the Boulevard San Germain.

So come and celebrate the revolution! And have a drink in one of the many charming cafes on this quiet pedestrian street. Very old Paris and just plain lovely.

This is one of my favorite Paris passageways, because of its history and ambiance, and I usually walk the 394-foot-length at least once during my stays in the city. On my most recent visit, I came in mid-morning soon after arriving from the airport. I was staying nearby and my hotel room was not yet ready.
Unlike the lively evenings here, morning offers a calm atmosphere with closed shops and restaurants. I saw only two others traversing the uneven original cobblestones that cover the 11.5-foot-wide route. I entered at 130 Boulevard St.-Germain and exited at 59 rue Saint-Andre-des-Arts. (There is also an entrance at 21 rue de l' Ancienne Comedie.) Except for the glass roof over the area where I exited, the passageway remains uncovered.
With no activity in the area, I had plenty of time to focus on the shops' facades, windows and roofs -- all historical monuments along with the three entrances and the glass roof. As a history buff, I also looked for vestiges of a12th-century city wall displayed by some buildings bordering the passageway, which opened in 1776.
Restaurants, bars and shops would become a big draw here later in the day. Perhaps the most famous is Cafe Procope, which opened in the 17th century and is considered to be the first Paris cafe.
Cour du Commerce Saint Andre is close to the Odeon metro station (lines 4 and 10).

This alley is the type where you'll find hidden treasures, I bought the cutest leather journal and also discovered a perfumery called Hayari Paris which is enchanting to walk into. I took some very interesting shots of the alley with the last ray lights popping in. There are also several jewelry boutiques with unique designs. Its definitely a chic stop.

Charming but not worth going out of your way for. Just a nice cobbled stone street (very small) with restaurants. It was in back of our Best Western Left Bank hotel so we did go.

A lovely open air (historic) passage way, that is home to the oldest restaurant in Paris, the "Le Procope", this is one of many attractions in the area, that warrants a visit.
