Neighborhood: Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendor. This neighborhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.

One of the best spas I’ve been to and the most relaxed I have felt after treatment. Went with a friend to have the Rhassoul treatment and massage. Great prices. Felt soooooo relaxed afterward and still do four days later!! Lovely scented body oils which I would highly recommend after the treatment to leave your skin soft. Wonderful and accommodating staff and one of the best massages I have had for awhile. Clean facilities (and I am really picky). Can see why they have been open for 20 years.

The ladies who work here are charming, thorough and have fast hands so the wax hurts less. They use oriental honey wax and offer the full range of waxing services. Another big plus is booking through their website although I often need to reserve a week in advance. I have seen a couple of different aestheticians who were all good but I’d particularly recommend Diana.

I was offered a full body-and-face treatment and enjoyed an incredible experience. I am myself very much into Spa treatments and can be quite demanding, but this experience was close to perfection.
The place itself is charming with a nice decoration, paying attention to every detail. I liked the service as well, starting with the fact the girls first ask you to choose the scent of your product in order to 'tailor-made' your treatment.
The treatment was very relaxing and well performed: first the body, then she 'wrapped' me while performing the face treatment, then performing a skull massage once the product was applied on my face. Everything between the heat, her expert hands and the music made me feel relaxed.
My only small disappointment was that my skin would not feel softer once being back home, enriched with the shea butter treatment, but I guess it is because the girl rinced it well and on the other hand I would have hated to feel too 'greasy' after leaving the place.
I definitely recommend this place!

So disappointing. I am reviewing this first in order to get the unpleasantness over with. This was my only negative experience on my recent 2 week trip to France which was overall spectacular. 350 euro down the tubes here.

When I arrived, they did not have a record of my appointment, which had been made over a month out and I had already paid for. Unfortunately, they had availability so were still able to perform my services. Now I wish they had not, and would have been spared a frustrating afternoon. It would have been so much better to have received a refund instead, but hind site is 20/20.

I will start with the hair treatment. It is an argan oil hair treatment, which I have had numerous times in the past. Often times it is left on overnight, but does not have to be, and indeed I have never left it on overnight and have still enjoyed the results. I let them know when I arrived that I was going out from the spa and not back to my hotel before I went out for the evening so I did not want to have oily hair when I left. They verbalized understanding.

They started my treatments with the argan hair treatment, then put me into the hammam/steam room. The steam room was lukewarm at best, and I did not break a sweat. I was in there for perhaps 20 minutes being warm, though not as warm as outside in Florida in the summer. I asked it the temperature could be turned up, and the therapist stated it was at max temperature. Because the steam was not hot and I was wet, I became quickly chilled when placed on a unheated granite slab for the body scrub.

There was an infrared heater on the ceiling above it but the therapist stated it could not be turned up either. I was shivering. She then covered me with a large towel, which really helped. I was able to enjoy the rest of the scrub- perhaps half of it. She then had me take a shower, I washed my hair twice with the shampoo provided to get the oil out of my hair.

At that point, she wanted me to go in for my massage. I pointed out that I was going out for the evening right after my spa day, so could not leave my hair wet for a 60 minute massage and a 90 minute facial. It would have been a mess. She was not happy about it, but she allowed me to blow dry my hair. It became clear that the shampoo provided was not optimal for this purpose as my hair was still full of oil, so I let her know that I was going to have to wash my hair again. I took another shower and washed my hair x2 again.

Again, she wanted me to go in for the massage and facial with wet hair. I explained again, my hair could not dry like that over 2.5 hours and then be in any state to go out for the evening. Reluctantly, she allowed me to blow dry my hair again. When I went in for the massage and facial, I again spoke about going out for the evening, and for her to MAKE SURE she did not get any oil in my hair. Again, she verbalized understanding.

I then had a very nice uneventful 60 minute massage with an oil of my choosing. Then time for the facial, she stated she would make sure no product got on my hair. She put something around my head to protect my hair, but then pulled back on it. Let me say that I am a spa junkie, and have been to spas all over the US and Europe. Always, with facial massage the direction of the movements is upwards, to help fight effects of gravity.

Well, this therapist was pushing down on my cheeks hard with the soles of her palms, and going downwards on my eyes as well. That was a mystery, and not enjoyable at all thinking about her helping gravity to pull my face down. But the icing on cake was when I got up from the facial and looked in the mirror, I had a 2" line of oil around my face! I could not believe it. i was upset, and told her so. She gave me shampoo, I then washed the front half of my head x2 again also rinsing off most of the facial product on the skin. I blew it dry, and saw there was still oil, so AGAIN washed the front half of my head x2 along with whatever residual facial product was left behind.

Totally frustrating, not relaxing. I then blew dry my hair for the fourth time. It looked like hell from 8 washings, and they did not have a curling iron for patrons to use. Unbelievable. Needless to say, my plans for the evening had to be changed and I had to go back to my room to do my hair. The little bit of pleasure I got from the massage and second half of my scrub was overshadowed completely by all of the above.

Then, as I was leaving the receptionist asked me how it all went. I told her I was frustrated about the oil in my hair, she translated my comment to who I am guessing was either the owner or manager. She shrugged it off saying this was good for my hair to have it in overnight. I replied that was not what I wanted and had specifically had asked to be avoided. They smiled blandly at me, and handed me a bottle of their massage oil which I guess they included in my package. When I got to my room I looked at the ingredients and it was oil and fragrance. I thought with their emphasis on orient and tribal that it would be pure essential oils, also at that price point I expect pure essential oils.

Awful afternoon, awful memory.

I love hammams, and frequent our wonderful miraj hammam in Vancouver. On previous trips to Paris I have been to the bains des Marais and la grande mosque. Charme dOrient was wonderful and I would recommend it highly. The space is tranquil and cozy, you are in the steam alone. Nancy did my treatment and she was spectacular. I couldn't believe how soft and fragrant my skin felt, and I loved the Argan butter. I felt pampered from head to toe!

It was very expensive, truth be told, but one of the best experiences ever.

From the very beginning they make you feel relaxed and they take the best care of your and your couple. Started with the hamman, to continue with a great shower and an outstanding massage with foam. A girl for each of us, totally personal. Moreover we had the facial and hair care which I strongly recommend because it was a blast.

After and hour or so, we changed to room to take the normal massage which was just magnificent. We were in Bali in a great 5* hotel enjoying a massage and only this one was close to it. Totally amazing.

At the end we bought an oil bottle and some cream, because they customize your massage with the fragrance and oil you desire, which is fantastic.

In planning a girls trip for three, I was hoping for a nice spa experience. Charme d'Orient was near our hotel and we found it while walking about the neighborhood. Their English is not very fluent (but neither is my French)...but together, we were able to book the services! The ladies were extremely nice and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience (Rituel de Hammam, and massage). I absolutely loved the steam room (note, the mud in the steam can cause eyes to sting a bit), but we were forewarned. Excellent experience from start to finish! THANK YOU SO MUCH for everything.

I had a wonderful massage, facial and Moroccan bath at this family owned, oriental spa! The staff were so friendly and genuine.

I had come to Paris for a relaxing weekend to escape from the stresses at work and they truly made me relax and I felt completely refreshed - I cannot be thankful enough!

The massage and Moroccan bath were heavenly, my skin still feels like a baby and its been 2 weeks since my visit! The facial has completely cleared my skin of spots and I no longer wear foundation. Thank you so much for this beautiful experience - I will be back soon for sure! :)
