We stumbled upon this little gem while on our way to explore Rue Mouffetard. I have a passion for pottery and we had to go in! We were pleasantly greeted by a lovely woman who could not be more helpful. The pottery pieces are so beautiful, you can explore the store with the delight of a museum. The woman there... More

Many comments here about the charming owner, so maybe we got him on a bad day? We are four women "of a certain age" who made a special trip here on the recommendation of a friend. One friend -- who actually owned a store of lovely home accessories -- said "You have some beautiful things here." His reply? "If they... More

Dear Madam, First of all my apologies if your experience at our boutique was not to your liking. It was never our intention to offend you. When I replied that "If they weren't beautiful, they wouldn't be here." I was only agreeing with your appreciation. I never intended to imply anything else. You may have noticed that the door was... We never miss Eric's wonderful pottery shop when visiting Paris and our house is full of treasures that we've bought here. Eric has contacts all over France and travels every where collecting the best examples of regional pottery. The problem here is controlling ourselves or we'd buy everything! Eric is a really charming knowledgeable guy who happens to speak perfect... More

I found La Tuile a Loup after a bit of Internet searching, and purchased several lovely bowls and cups from the Provence region of France. The proprietor, Eric, was very charming and helpful, and shipped the work to my home in Washington. As a long time potter and ceramic artist, I appreciate the handmade qualities of the work.

I first discovered La Tuile a Loup in 1980 and have been buying traditional French ceramics there on almost every visit to Paris. At home in Sydney people delight in them when we use them for meals and several friends have become devotees of the shop. Eric runs a wonderful shop, sourcing ceramics, traditional and modern, and other crafts such... More

I and my wife visited this lovely boutique filled with ceramics, baskets and textiles. After quite a bit of thought we left the store with a fine basket, which we are sure will become the perfect object to remind us of our picnics and our entire Paris trip. The owner was kind to help us with suggestions of different picnic... More

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
