The clearest sunny day was just right for this visit, as you could see for miles. The speedy lift brought us to the panoramic terrace which enabled us to see the whole city from the best vantage point. Great for a first visit to get your bearings!

The Montparnasse observatory is a great attraction. It shows a view of the entire city of Paris. It has both indoor and outdoor observatories, in two separate floors. Make sure you come in a good weather day. The best thing about the observatory is it allows a view of Paris without the Montparnasse tower ( because you are on it)... More

We arrived here about an hour before sunset without advance reservations and had no problems getting tickets and going up immediately, though it was off season in mid-January. You get a great view of the entire city of Paris, including the Eiffel Tower. My suggestion would be to get up there about 30 minutes before sunset time so that you... More

After visiting the Eiffel Tower we jumped onto the Metro and went a few stops further on to the Montparnasse Tower. Easy to find (signposted within the station) and outside station - impossible to miss. Apparently the parisiens don’t like this monolithic building. It is a modern block within an older landscape. We went on a Sunday morning and after... More

Unfortunately we pre-booked because we were only in Paris for one day, and it was really foggy. But it was a bit naughty of them to accept our extra payment of queue jump when it was such a quiet time of year for them. Because of the weather, we couldn't really see much, but understand that on a clearer day... More

Went in January. Cold (it was snowing) but at least quite quiet! Got a bit lost coming from the métro, so look out for signs. Had a lovely time sitting with a coffee on the nice warm enclosed lower floor, looking out across the city. There are glass screens on the top floor, but there are gaps so you can... More

This was included in the Paris pass and since we had seen Paris views in the daytime we decided to go up to the top at night. Glad we did. Amazing to to see the city at night and to watch the light show on the Eiffel Tower which runs on the hour was amazing. The outside viewing deck was... More

We visited Montparnasse to view the sunset and we were not let down, it is beautiful and will not disappoint. Only downside is that it's stairs up and down to the view point so can be problematic if you cannot handle fights of stairs. If you are in Paris, definitely a must to see the views of Paris

I have visited the Montparnasse Tour by night and it was a good experience to see Paris by night (under the lights).

Got off the TGV train from Nantes at 9:20 am and headed to the tower. I took my carry on luggage with me with no problem. Showing them Rick Steves book gave me a discount ticket. The views were fantastic. There is a cafe and a gift shop on the 56th floor. Staff speak English. Buses as the base of... More

Neighborhood Profile
Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the center of Paris this neighborhood has something for every hour of the day.
