The Vineyard of Montmartre remains under ownership of the city of Paris. It was created by the city as an attempt to section off large parts of Montmartre that could not be purchased by real estate developers.
Despite its size, it produces 27 varieties of wine. In total the vineyard is able to produce enough grapes to make 500 liters of wine per year. This works out to roughly 1700 bottles of wine.

Important as the last production vineyard within the city of Paris. They do produce wine each year and have a big party for the vendage, but reportedly, the wine is never that great. For us, this is a pretty green area on the slope of the big hill.

Just a few blocks away from the busy crowded streets near Sacre Coeur on the northern slopes of Montmartre you will find a small vineyard on a peaceful corner. It is hard to believe that this could be possible. There is no entry to the vineyard, just a peek through the wire fence is allowed. Interesting there has been wine production on Montmartre since the 12th century. Across the road from the vineyard is the landmark house of 'Au Lapin Agile' which is the oldest bar/cabaret in Paris.

Behind Sacre Coeur on the corner of Rue des Saules and Rue Saint-Vincent is the last remaining vineyard of Montmartre. Wine production started as long ag as the 12th century when the Benedictine abbey was established. This small pocket of old Paris was saved from redevelopment in 1933 when many new varieties of grape were introduced. It is not open to the general public.

Most travellers hang around the Sacre Coeur and the Place du Tertre while visiting Montmartre. Some visit the Dali Space on the south side. But less go to the North, where quite surprisingly wineyards can be found. Those wineyards supply the Clos Montmartre wine which is sold on October's "Fetes des Vendanges" of Montmartre every year. The grapes look just fine in August. and the wine tastes better after the Vendanges.
Art Lovers will find the famous "Lapin Agile" just by the Wineyards.
Combine it with your Montmartre Tour, and try to see the Parades during the Fetes des Vendanges in Rue des Abbesses and Rue Lepic if you happen to be on the right dates.

We were wanting to do a Vineyard visit in Paris and this was perfect. Our guide Galina was very knowledgeable of the area and the History behind the area.
There is a lot of walking uphill, so i recommend good walking/hiking shoes. At the cathedral there are a lot of tourists, so be careful when standing on the top of the stairs to get a view of the city of Paris, you could easily be pushed.
The Vineyard visit was good, but i was hoping to spend more time there than a 1/2 hour. It is amazing to see a vineyard with in the city of Paris.

One of the last remaining vineyards in Paris. It was interesting to see the remnants of this vineyard on the slope in Montmartre

During our many visits to the hill, as we know it, we have missed this attraction, it did not disappoint, not often you get to see a vineyard in a bustling city.

How can I arrange a tour and tasting at Clos Montmartre? I have emailed through their Contact Us, and directly to the individual who their site shows to contact. I have received no responses and it has been nearly a week. I will be part of a group of 15 people.
