I honestly don’t think this was a good value for the price. While it was convenient to be driven to each of the castles, the commentary and history by the tour guide were really quite brief and were given outside of the castles, so we were left on our own to navigate inside each. We basically paid $250 a person to be driven to three castles, lunch was not included, and they didn’t even offer us bottles of water. The “wine tasting”, if I can call it that, was really lacking. It was basically going into a wine store and pushing buttons in a vending type machine that let out 1 ounce of wine for 4 cheap wines without anyone really describing the wines to us. I really would have expected more from a “wine tasting” in the Loire valley. I’ve been to several wine tastings before, and each time they poured you the glass and described the wine for you. So that was disappointing, though a small part of the tour. I think to make this tour much better, they can do a tour of just the first two castles with a more complete description/history, as the third castle might’ve been a bit overkill (how many castles can you tour in one day?), and then they could’ve also done a tour of one actual Loire vineyard where are you actually had a real authentic wine tasting and got to know about the wine making process. Overall, I would say this tour was OK, but definitely not worth $250 per person.
