About
There’s a reason why our tours are top-rated food tours on TripAdvisor and have been celebrated by The New York Times (twice!) and knowledgable foodies like David Lebovitz and Ruth Reichl: we keep our group sizes tiny, we spend generously at the best shops in town, and we only work with expert guides who have devoted their lives to food & wine. Our tours are in English and last for around 3 hours. They include some walking and standing, but also feature a seated tasting with wine pairings. Our tours are designed for adults. We’re unable to host children under ten years of age. Our price of 125€ per person is a little higher than the competition because we spend more than anyone else on premium tastings and to pay the most experienced and knowledgable guides in Paris. You’re also paying for the tiny group size. You can visit our website to see our calendar of availability, and we hope to welcome you soon!

What an absolute treat this food tour is. There’s a reason this tour was written up in the New York Times and is one of the top rated tours on Trip Advisor! They really do it right. All the guides have been, or are in, the culinary business in some way, shape, or form, and really know their stuff. Our guide, Isabelle, was so incredibly knowledgeable and exceptionally personable, she really made the tour exceptionally special. During your 3-hour treck around the area of the city you choose, you will shop like a real Parisian! I will be describing the St. Germain tour in this review. First stop is the bakery, of course, to pick up a small breakfast and some bread for your meal later. Next, to some chocolate shops to grab desert. Then, to one of Paris’ famous food markets, to get meat and cheeses to go along with that bread. And finally, you will land yourself in a wine shop, where (quite literally) PERFECT wine parings are offered with each combination of food. All along the way, you will learn so much about French culinary history, techniques, and traditions, all while eating and drinking some insanely delicious items. You will also have the opportunity to buy food items from some of the best shops in the area to take home with you. On my tour, there was a couple returning for their second tour with the Paris By Mouth, so that should give you an idea of how good it is! And the day after the tour, I received a detailed email from our guide containing the names of every shop we visited and details on each food and wine we imbibed. Couldnt ask for anything more. I know the next time I’m in Paris, I will definitely be taking one of their other tours. It was worth every penny! (I recommend eating a very light breakfast before the tour, as you will be eating a lot but not so much in the beginning, so it’s a good idea to have something in your stomach. Also, remember to tip your guides!)

Belated review
A friend and I went in February and the tour was led by Aurélien. Throughout the tour he answered all our question, and could tell how passionate he was about food. Each stop was delicious and pointed out things i didnt know or would even bother to look up, so i truly enjoyed the informational aspect. Also the stops they picked, I wouldn't have known to stop at or even find, so we both loved that . Since the tours are small, we never felt rushed and it made the time more enjoyable. Honestly I was hesitant about the price tag, but after seeing how much time they put into each guest, the new shops they introduced to us, and coming out full, I definitely recommend it to others. Thank you Aurélien for making our Paris trip better (and for also staying abit after to answer our questions and give recommendations).

We enjoyed Veronica as our Paris By Mouth guide in the Left Bank during the beginning of Tempêste Ciara. Cold, gale force wind gusts did not diminish the fun we had on our tour. Veronica, an ex pat who now lives in Paris, first took us to the bakery were we had what was voted the best croissant in Paris (sublime). She explained what the coveted Meilleur Ouvrier de France designation means and how the formager two doors down from the bakery won it. She described the neighborhood and the history of the quarter. We moved on to an artisanal chocolatier that has elevated the cacao bean to its highest level. Folks in Paris don't bring wine and flowers when invited to dinner, they bring chocolate of the finest kind. Next, we feasted on some delicious pastry near the Sorbonne. Veronica picked up a section of charcuterie at yet another artisan shop dedicated to the best sausages, pâtes, etc. Our final stop was in a room in the back of a small, but well-curated wine shop where Veronica pulled it all together: we each had a baguette ready for pats of Brittany, hand-churned butter; a selection charcuterie paired with some lovely white wine; three more scrumptious cheeses - one from Sardinia paired with the perfect Sardinia red wine. Dessert wine with more chocolate and pastry put period on a culinary experience that was delicious, educational and fun!

My husband Mike and I arranged for a food tasting tour with Deniz last week in the Marais. It was our last day in Paris and absolutely unforgettable. We were floored by her energy, knowledge and friendliness! Deniz took us to the best of the best- boulangerie, macaroon shop, cheese and meat shops as well as a delicious wine shop that we will never forget. In the meantime I peppered her with questions and she was able to answer everything. I also felt a friendship with her and was able to joke with her like I would any of my mates. We were all having such a good time we actually went over the allotted time slot. At the end I asked her where the best clothing boutiques were and she guided us to some amazing stores. We highly recommend this tour as we walked away happy, full, and much more knowledgeable about this beautiful city and it’s foods.

This review is not for the tour itself as we never got to experience it. This review is for the customer service. We had booked the tour for our first morning in Paris and were so looking forward to it. Unfortunately, on the way there i felt really sick. We tried to make it work - stopped at the cafe on the way there to get water for me and get few minutes to hopefully get over whatever this was - but eventually decided that I had to get back to the hotel. I explained the situation to the company and asked if we could please rebook for another day at a discounted price. I was told that per refund policy no refund is offered unless cancelled 48 hours in advance. Please know that I did not ask for a refund, I wanted to rebook (and I confirmed that multiple tours were still available for the week before our departure) and simply asked for a discount, any discount.
Dealing with tourists, I wish company had some flexibility in case of emergency. Again, I was not expecting refund. There was availability in the tours in the following days, and all I no asked for was a discount.
In the past, this company did cancel tours due to emergency situation with the guide (see one star review on this site) and asked guests for understanding and flexibility. I wish they returned the favor.

We took the Le Marais walking tour immediately upon arriving in Paris in freezing temperatures but it was the BEST way to start our vacation. They promptly got in touch with us because of a venue change due to covid and tour went off without a hitch. Jennifer was intelligent, so very well informed, and engaging- super prepared with pre-bought foods from crowded venues, but gave us choices when we got to pick our own. My husband and 2 adult children would highly recommend it and it seemed super appropriate for any age children. We ended in a wine cellar with cheeses, sweets, and 3 wine choices- take this tour if you can get a booking. Le Marais was great, but I know people who have done the other 2 sites and they loved those as well.

This was my second tour with Paris by Mouth, and this time I booked the tour of Left Bank with Diane. She was very (impressively) knowledgeable and entertaining, and the group had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the food and wine we got to try. It was great to be able to sit down after walking for a couple of hours, and share our food and wine experiences in France over wine, charcuterie and cheese.
I continue ‘advertising’ the tour and the guide to my friends.

Veronica was our guide in the Left Bank in February and she did an amazing job. She took us several places including an excellent cheese shop, bakery, artisanal chocolatier, and a wine store where we concluded the tour with great wine and cheese. The food we tasted from cheese to pastry to bread and chocolate was a delight and everyone enjoyed it. Veronica knows a great deal about food especially cheese and she provided lots of information about the food we ate.. Veronica was also very skilled and high energy at ensuring everyone in the group was engaged. We had a wide age range in our group and she found ways to connect with everyone., She also is quite knowledgable about history and brought interesting historical facts and insights into the tour. The tour could not have been done better and I definitely recommend it to all and will do another one on next trip to Paris! .

8 Americans who have never met are told to congregate at 4pm at the Metro stop on rue du Bac - sounds a bit weird, no?! Well, what a wonderful time it was for all of us! 3 1/2 hours later (but the time seemed to really fly by) we were gathered in the 2nd floor of a quaint wine store in St. Germain enjoying the incredible cheese, charcuterie, bread, wine, and dessert from some of the areas finest artisans. Lola was an amazing guide with her knowledge of the history of the area as well as being a terrific person. We would recommend this excursion to anyone who loves food, wine, and getting an insider look at Paris - you will see and experience things that you simply wouldn't as a tourist! Bon appetite!

My husband and I have taken food, culture, local tours in Malta, Portugal. They were good but this tour Taste of Marais was over the top. Aurélien the guide once a baker, restaurant chef gave not only the history of bread, cheese, charcuterie, and wine in France but had a great sense of humor. It was a memorable experience that I learned so much about Paris and the food of France.
