This charming and scenic square in the bohemian Montmartre district looks straight off a Hollywood set, but it offers a glimpse of authentic Parisian life. Just steps away are hip eateries, cafes and boutiques—and the Abbesses Métro stop stands right here, making the Place easily reachable for visitors.

Not a very touristic place, but nice neighbourhood. There are a lot of shops around, as well as boulangeries and restaurants

Take this underground stop and go any way you like to explore the beautiful Montmartre. Visit the Wall of Love just next to this square.

I thought taking the Metro to this stop would somehow avoid all the steps. WRONG! :) There are a lot of steps, and when I finally made it to street level, I was at my target heart rate. LOTS of stairs. But most definitely worth...More

How can it be Paris without all this romantic drama wall... "Je t'aime" in all the languages. Find your lover and take him/her there then go have mussels meal in one of the nearby restaurants.

Here is the quintessential view of Paris. All your previous images of Paris can be captured in this small square. There is plenty of opportunities to capture some great images if you like taking a photo or two.

This is a great base to explore Montmartre. Less touristy than Place du Tetre higher up the hill and less seedy than Pigalle lower down the hill. There is a lovely authentic French feel and even warmth to rue des Abbessess with some super boulangeries,...More

After the huge climb up from the Metro station - interesting wall designs but not for the older or unfit traveller - thought I'd purchase an English novel at the 'quaint looking' book shop across the road. Very rude older employee who advised me 'I...More

Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colors, and
styles which changes from one street to another. Ride
the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the
steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the
Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The
church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano
bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers
thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy
