About
La Géode was built in 1985. It is an architectural work of art besides being a very special movie and events theatre equipped with state-of-theart technical facilities: an OmnimaxTM projector and a 4K digital projection system. One of the most striking buildings in Paris, La Géode is a giant mirror ball 36 meters in diameter. La Géode is equivalent in height to a 12-storey building. It is covered with 6,433 stainless steel triangles, each with sides 1.20 meters long, which reflect the surrounding environment. This design was an absolute technological challenge for architect Adrien Fainsilber and engineer Félix Chamayou. Inside, La Géode’s 1,000 squaremeter screen is made up of perforated aluminum panels and stretches over a hemisphere of 26 meters in diameter. The auditorium has 400 tiered seats and is tilted 27 degrees horizontally, with the screen tilted at 30 degrees.

This was a worthwhile experience. The 3D film was excellent, and for a euro each, we hired headphones with an English translation. The staff were very helpful. It was nice to sit down for an hour!

La Geode is next to the science museum in Parc de la Villette. The building is fantastic to see. I saw an under the sea IMAX film. Very comfortable seating.
There is a cafe that has nice well priced food too.

First reaction is to admit I didn't realise how big it was. We originally accessed the globe by way of the theatre, not knowing it was open at the back had we of walked around the theatre. Didn’t really matter as the security staff at the theatre were very approachable and friendly.
We visited when it was cloudy so probably missed out how stunning it could have been had the sun been out to provide more reflections. Even without the sun it was a memorable visit which I would consider doing again.
Entrance is free even if you go through the theatre. If you exit from the rear and turn left you’ll come across the Argonaute, a French submarine which is open to visitors all days except Mondays and national holidays. We were there on a bank holiday monday so didn't get to see inside :-(

I was very dissapointed. Being a non-French speaker this was just a waste of time. The film and the big schreen itself was cool, but when my children and I did not understand a thing, it took away the pleasure.
When purchasing the tickets at the science museum, we were told that we could get English audio devices at the place, but there was no service or help to get at the Geode. A total waste of time and money.

Although the films last only about 40 min I think it is worth the price to watch a movie in "la Géode". I bought a combi ticket at the science museum nearby. It costs 15? for students which I think is quiet ok. The screen of the cinema is really big. I watched the film "Under the see" which is shown in a 180° view. Impressive!

I arrived 10 minutes late and and did not wish to wait for the next show which was in 50 minutes.
However, you can still get great pictures of the structure and the rest of the buildings in the science museum complex. The only drawback is that it's rather away from the centre, the surrounding area felt rather dodgy and the metro line there and back was the worst I experienced in the whole of Paris.

If you think you ever saw a big movie screen, come to here, you won't be disappointed. Come early to get the best chairs to see the movie.

Each time in Paris, to go to La Geode stays in my planning. One or two movies and you have the smile when you go out.
The movies are always interesting and enough diversificated to enjoy a maximum of audience. I was in the first in the middle of 80 's to discover the omnimax-imax movies there. Its always a pleasure to come back in front of one of the largest screen of the world. 30 years later, it missed the spectacular discovery of this new technology, but it stays for the small and the tallest the pleasure to discover the world differently through the images and of course with an excellent sound.

Hello, we are looking for a train to take us to the northernmost part of Spain, San Sebastian, from Paris, France. Is this possible?
Written March 23, 2018
It is possible, however to the best of my knowledge there is no direct train, so you would have to change. Search on any of the European train websites for services on the day that you would like to travel. Southern services typically leave from the Paris Montparnasse train station, which is well-connected to the Metro/RER system.
