This is a short stretch of an historic street. It is full of very expensive shopping and has always been part of upper class Paris. Expensive restaurants, jewelry stores, expensive hotels, expensive cafes. But pretty.

The Rue de la Paix is a fashionable street in the center of Paris (2e arrondissement). It runs from the Place Vendome to Opera Garnier. The street is awash with expensive boutiques. Originally opened in 1806, it was initially called Rue Napoleon. The name was changed in 1814. It is also the most expensive property in the French version of Monopoly (like Mayfair in the English version).

This turned out to be one of our favourite streets as it had a lot going on, starting at place Vendome, (which was a feast for the eyes) and continuing along to the Opera Garnier, (another feast for the eyes), this street had a lovely atmosphere about it, there are also many jewellery shops, to browse.

Luxury stores and luxury hotels all in one vicinity is a very understandable tandem. The rich and famous paradise for items that caught their fancy.

We only had our window-shopping to see how it is in this part of Paris specially in this kind of merchandise. Strolling along a quieter street from Place de l'Opera to the Place Vendome until somewhere we can find another Metro.

Best explored on foot and truly lovely in December filled with holiday shopping spirit this street lends itself to luxury window shopping for everybody. Most known for the Cartier store but the locally known jewelry stores should be of interest to an upscale shopper.

Good food. Great atmosphere, pretty place. Unconscionable prices even for Paris. It's close to the opera. I'll go back in April.

A very fashionable street with origins of famous jewelry shops such as Cartier, and other clothing and dress making shops. It street extends from the Place Vendome to the Palace Garnier. The column Vendome is located in a large square along this street. It is a column built by Napoleon (1810) and it surface is covered with bronze plates melted from captured cannons during Napoleon’s military adventures. We visited this place during a city tour. Interesting history but not much of anything else worth a separate excursion.
