Richard was able to design a walking tour for a "mercerie" look at the Marais. We hit sewing shops, yarn shops and an excellent new spot for lunch, Pinot Grigio. My sister-in-law tempted Richard to start crocheting a few projects for Christmas. He left the shop with crocheting needle and yarn in hand! We saw a lot of new shops... More

A perfect mix of information, entertainment and delight. Richard delivers his tours in the manner of an old friend. Relaxed, informative, and at a perfect pace. We chose the Marais District tour, and subsequently returned to many of Richard's restaurant recommendations, all of which were outstanding. For this reason we suggest you take your tour with Richard at the beginning... More

My husband and I took the walking tour to the Marais area of Paris with Richard. He is an excellent guide. We will use him again to hidden see parts of Montmartre.

My husband and I had the wonderful experience of "walking" with Richard in early September. I had his name ahead of time so booked it before we left CA. Very easy and user friendly website to schedule the walks. Our first walk was the 3 Hour Walking Tour of Marais. He showed us all over, including the Sunday Farmer's Market.... More

Richard was awesome. He was a breath of Brooklyn (my home town) fresh air on Paris streets. He was warm, funny and had so much information about everything in Paris. He engaged my curious 8 year old daughter effortlessly. He carefully listened as to what we wanted to do most and fine tuned it. We did a chocolate tour of... More

This was our second tour with Richard and a wonderful way to spend our last day in Paris. He shepherded us around his beautiful neighborhood, keeping us safely moving through busy, bright streets. Had we been on our own, I think we'd still be on our first street corner, trying to figure out when to cross! Richard showed us quiet... More

We enjoyed the morning walking tour of the Marias district especially the Sunday market in the square. Richard was friendly and knowledgeable and provided a lot of history, sights, and took us to many local shops. We loved Place de Vosges and returned later in the week. Richard's love for Paris showed through during the entire tour. I would recommend... More

We spent an afternoon touring Le Marais district with Richard Nahem of eyepreferParis tours. Richard is a great guide, friendly and welcoming, and very knowledgable about the area. I have stayed in the Marais district previously but learned many, many things about the area, from history (lots) to the best bakery and chocolatier as well as the best restaurant for... More

I recently moved to the Marais area and didn't know much about it before I moved in. I did some online research and saw the Eye Prefer Paris tours offered a Marais tour, their specialty. I met Richard at the St. Paul metro station, a five minute walk from my house. It was great tour & I learned so much... More

We enjoyed the all day walking tour of the Marias district. Richard was very knowledgeable of the history, sights, and the many local shop owners. We entered a few courtyards that are unseen from the streets and Richard would share information on the architecture and history of the building (or hotels as some of them are called). If you've done... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighborhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendor. This neighborhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
