My family of five enjoyed a tour in the Marais with Richard. Richard was great, switching up the historical and architectural information about the area and the neighborhood with the wonderful shopping and stores. We did a couple of fun stops for handmade stationary, jewelry and scarfs. My three girls loved the stops for chocolate, coffee, and pastries. We highly... More

If you only have a few days and want to experience the culture and lifestyle of the Parisians, than a walking tour with Richard is a must. We spent three hours exploring the Marais area with Richard and loved seeing the hidden courtyards, speciality stores, bakeries and French architecture. He is especially knowledgeable about food and culture and shared his... More

Richard took me on the Christmas tour and it was simply fantastic. He showed me all of the sites, stores, markets, and everything Christmas related. It was really nice to see a different side of Paris than before (I've been a couple times) and to experience the culture and feel like a local with Richard. He is knowledgeable, flexible, and... I took a personal photo tour of the Le Marais area of Paris. He was interesting and kind and full of knowledge about the area. He got us access to the courtyard of several mansion and other photo opportunities I would not have gotten on my own. I did the tour as a single woman and felt comfortable and safe.... More

We only had about 5 hours to spend in Paris...I knew it would be difficult to see most of the sights and enjoy or much too quick visit. I wrote Richard and asked if he could give us a tour that would show us the Main sights of Paris.. He said that he could, and he certainly lived up to... More

Richard gave us a great private taxi tour of the night lights of Paris. And then we met him the next day for a walking tour of the Marais area. We saw so much in just a couple of hours. Great food tasting opportunities, chocolate tasting stores and of course... where to buy great baguettes! Worth your time! Richard is... More

I had such a great time on my first Eye Prefer Paris tour, I signed up for another one on my recent trip to Paris. This time, I chose the Montmartre tour, since its an area I didn't know much about. Since I often travel solo, I love doing the tours with Richard, so I have expert company and am... More

Richard, is great. If you are an English speaking traveler visiting Paris, Richard is a wonderful companion. His knowledge of the city is excellent. He took my wife and I on a food walking tour of the Marais. Fantastic. Delicious. I would highly recommend him.

We were a sisters group of 7 and wanted to get as much out of Paris as possible, but a little off the beaten path. We did two tours with Richard. One of Marais and one of St. Germain. We learned historical information, the best place to buy chocolate and other food items, and saw a side of Paris we... More

I had the pleasure to tour Le Marais with Richard and had a great time. Richard was a wealth of information about the area and the neighborhood. Some of the stories were quite fun and shed a light about the history of Le Marais. We did couple of fun stop for chocolate, coffee and pastries. The shopping in the area... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighborhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendor. This neighborhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
