Each time I'm in Paris I make time for a tour with Richard! I lived in Paris when I was in college, but Richard is able to share new parts of town with me and even to give me new insights into areas I thought I knew well! The most recent visit was exploring the 10th along rue and Faubourg... More

I have to start out with this awesome cafe that Richard from Eye Prefer Pris tours took me to - Le Loir Dans la Théière - with mile high tarts and pies - I was ready to camp out and bring my pillow and move in. The food in Paris is phenomenal, and this one you can add to the... More

Richard Nahem met us on schedule at St. Paul's Metro station and led us on a three hour walk through the Marais district of Paris. His tour included historical information about the Marais, historic and significant buildings, restaurants to consider during our 10 day stay in the district, and local shops worth noting for unusual merchandise. He is a very... More

It's been a bit cooler in Paris this year - I come to at least once a year if not more, and I ALWAYS take a tour from Richard of EyePreferParis. He is such a warm and lovely man that I always find spending time with him walking around Paris to be a delight. Even by now if I know... More

My daughters (14 and 18) and I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 1/2 hour chocolate tour! My girls were originally in it strictly for the treats but they actually enjoyed the entire experience including Richard's thorough background information on each of the stores, the stories behind the chocolates we were tasting and even the information about the neighborhoods we were walking... Our family of four , including two adult children, visited Paris this last Spring. We were lucky enough to schedule a tour of the Left Bank with Richard. The tour was a refreshing break from the usual tour of sites, museums and churches. We had such fun eating and sampling from the best and many hidden food establishments around town.... More

My husband and I and our two kids, 18 and 21, took a family vacation to Paris and spent the day with Richard. We had a wonderful day, seeing the highlights of Paris in the morning and taking a walking tour of the Marais neighborhood in the afternoon. Richard was very prompt, personable and knowledgeable of Paris, plus he was... More

I happened to have a free afternoon and was lucky enough to book Richard for his eclectic entertaining and fascinating (albeit caloric) tour of the Marais. His "insider" perspective went way beyond merely spouting data--he had insights on the architecture and history, the lifestyles, the gardens, the food and the local merchants. I look forward to returning and seeing more parts... More

I hired Richard to accompany me for my first time in Paris while I was waiting for my friend to arrive the following day. It was a wonderful introduction to a beautiful city. Along with it being extremely convenient, it was also very educational and personal. We hit many major tourist attractions including great shopping at the end. It is... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighborhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendor. This neighborhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
