Private Tour of Saint Germain des Pres

St. Germain des Prés is one of the most beloved areas of Paris. As a former hub for writers and artists like Hemingway, Picasso, and F. Scott Fitzgerald in the 1920s, it still has a unique, carefree vibe that is unparalleled. From its lavish 19th-century Belle Époque–style buildings to its top antiques and contemporary art galleries, to its famous people-watching cafés, St. Germain des Prés is the quintessential Paris experience. I hadnt been in Paris in almost 12 years, when I used to live here for part of the year. There are some arrondissements in Paris that I remember well, and others that have escaped me, so I hired Richard to take me on a few tours (we have done 2 so far) - one to Montmartre, one to see the passageways in Paris, and next week, a 3rd to St Germain. He emailed me the night before as to where we should meet, with specific instructions (which metros to take), and when I arrived, he was there on time, wearing his mask and being very thoughtful about keeping a distance and yet he is so friendly, that you hardly noticed that we walked a bit apart. His knowledge and enthusiasm for Montmartre was inspiring - pointing out certain buildings, or the vineyard (yes, there is a vineyard in Montmartre)... even choosing a restaurant that was quite good. The second tour was equally as fun - seeing the passageways, which are incredibly beautiful....walking in neighborhoods helped me re-situate. Looking forward to seeing him next week, for our tour to St Germain

I have been to the Marais numerous times as I always liked this "arrondisement" (neighborhood). When I contacted Richard, I knew that I wanted to see his Marais since he has lived there for more than 10 years and he is always discovering new sights for himself which he can then share with his clients. Richard's Marais tour is very comprehensive. He teaches you about the history of the area, he shows you edifices that go way back in time and Richard has all of the facts at his fingertips. You see more stores with very interesting items. These are not the souvenir shops, but if you purchase something, it will become your souvenir. Richard is also your souvenir as you learned more in 3 hours than if you tried for weeks to do this on your own. Since he is a born New Yorker, there are no language barriers and Richard makes it so interesting, but he gives you more than fun. If you are a history buff, you will add to your knowledge. Richard has done some great scouting regarding extremely well-priced bistros where you will dine with delicious cuisine and it will not ruin your budget. Being in Paris with Richard is so memorable so do not forget to make a booking in advance. Not only in Paris, but Richard will take you on day tours outside of the city which you will adore. Richard makes you want to say, "EYE PREFER PARIS".

Its always a comfort to a traveler to have a friend such as Richard lead you through Paris. The Saint Germain de Pres private tour was full of surprises and new historical awareness of Paris' Left bank. We especially enjoyed the look see into Ecole Beaux de Arts. Home to many famous parisians artists, a grand hall with their names displayed on beautiful walls. We will be back again and choose a new arrondisement to adventure in to with Richard.

In planning a fast trip to Paris with my sister and daughter I opted to line up several personal tours for us in order to get out of the beaten pathway. We are travelers who enjoy seeing how real life is where we visit. Richard took us to out of the way places, down narrow alleys, into small shops that never would have drawn us in. Our experience was enhanced when he even identified and helped arrange cooking lessons! I heartily recommend Richard to anyone who prefers a stellar experience of discovery.
