Despite the cold, rainy weather, this was the highlight of my trip. Even my husband (who has little interest in photography) had a good time. Our guide Gilles, was fun, knowledgeable and very patient. I learned a lot about my camera and so much about composition. This was exactly what I was after and Photo Tours of Paris delivered.
From an amatuers perspective, this was a great way to increase my understanding of my camera, see a different side of a beautiful city and have a lot of fun while doing it.
Photo Tours of Paris was very reponsive to my emails prior to booking, our guide was right on time, he had an organized plan of what to do but remained flexible and patient.

Gilles was on time, polite and a wealth of knowledge. I learnt more about my camera 'D80', I have become more confident to use in manual mode in all situations and returned with photos that I am very pleased with. Gilles welcomed my wife along for the walk, also brought a spare tripod in case. We walked and rode the Metro to get to sites. A good bit of walking - not too much.
If night photography is something you would like to try - a tour with Gilles is a great way to learn or improve, get to see the sights, learn a little history, access local knowledge and return home with some great photos which don't need to be retouched. Thank you Gilles, a highlight amongst the many we had in Paris.

This experience was such a great find for me because I have never bothered to master my fairly advanced Nikon camera and despite resolving to do so before each vacation, it never seems to happen and I always come back with very few, uninspired photographs.
Stumbling over Photo Tours of Paris during my trip there in July, I bit the bullet, signed up and had the most rewarding experience. Not only was I patiently shown the capabilities and features of my camera but I had to convince friends upon my return that "YES! The photos really were mine". I can take this new found confidence to my next vacation destination.
I seriously doubted whether I would enjoy this experience and find it value for money, but I would liken it to going to Costa Rica and being accompanied by a learned wildlife expert - somebody who can open your eyes to the fascinating opportunities around you, which you would not otherwise see.

Unfortunately after booking and receiving confirmation and the meeting point information no-one turned up. I then walked 1km to the nearest starbucks to get wifi and send an email to the company. When i got wifi i had an email from them (sent after the start time of the tour...) explaining that the tour was full and woyld i like to rescheduke or get a full refund. As it was my last full day i couldnt reschedule so i got a refund that will xome theougv within 2 weeks. Unfortunately this will not cover my international transaxtion fee on my credit card...
Extramely disappointed with the company and that it didnt go ahead :(

I learn many new ways to use my camera, our guide Manol was patient and cool. A very interesting and pleasant afternoon across Paris and few little hide spots. It's a thing to do that you can find with book guide.

This was the one part of my trip that I was most eager to experience. The opportunity to shoot Paris at night was going to be a dream come true. The fact that I could rent a tripod was a bonus as it meant I didn't have to lug my tripod from Canada with me. After receiving a confirmation e-mail a couple of days prior to my departure with the details of who to meet and where and when I waited for this part of my trip with great anticipation. I arrived at the meeting spot a half hour before the meet up so as not to miss out and then set about waiting for the guide to arrive. We were to meet at 10:00 p.m. in front of Conseil d'Etat. By 10 minutes after 10 I began to wonder if the guide had been held up so I called the cell phone number that was provided to me. Receiving no answer I left a voice mail message. Thinking that maybe the guide got held up in traffic I set about to wait a bit longer. By a quarter to 11, I began to think maybe something had gone terribly wrong. I phoned the cell phone number again and this time reached the guide. It seems he had never been notified by the company that he had a tour that evening. As a result I was left waiting for well over an hour, in an area of Paris where there is little to do or see. On top of all that, I now had no access to a tripod so couldn't even go out on my own to try and get some shots alone.
While the company was quite prompt in returning my money and offering me a complimentary tour (which I may or may never have a chance to use), that did not make up for the truly bitter disappointment I felt at not being able to do one of the things I've dreamed of doing since I first picked up a camera; shooting the City of Lights at night. My advice to future travellers is to contact the guide directly as soon as you receive the information from the company so that there is no confusion about the date and time of the tour. I have learned that the hard way.

Our customer satisfaction is our highest priority.
In this specific instance, we faced a computer problem that caused our photographer not to show up for our unfortunate customer.
Appropriate measures have been taken to avoid further technical issues in the future.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and are hoping that this guest will have the opportunity to come again to Paris and enjoy her complimentary tour!

This is our third private tour with them. The first two were last year with Gilles Argivier. The night tour was splendid. Gilles was fun & fluent in English. This year, he was not going to be in Paris at the same time we were. So after spending some time on the phone with us asking about our interests and reviewing sites previously visited he arranged for Cara to be our guide. She was aware of what we needed and showed other wonderful sites. Cara is an American photographer living in Paris, and we highly reccomend her.

Our evening photo tour was wonderful, thanks to Gilles! You can tell he really does enjoy photography and his enthusiasm was contagious. Gilles knew all the best places to shoot pictures and explained things on a level that wasn't condescending and wasn't too technical. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience, Gilles!

In our travels, we always aspire to bring home a couple great photos. This photo tour was a great way to bring home the shots without all the hassles. Our guides were excellent. Not having the language barrier was a real plus... Quite enjoyable!

I set up and prepaid a booking a couple months ago for our trip in June. I've been trying to get confirmation via phone and e-mail for a couple weeks now, to no avail.
I checked the website this morning to see if I could find any other contact information... only to find the website replaced by a "Business Closed" banner.
...Still no word about a refund since, presumably our tour will not happen. (Though since the Photo Tours company is not replying, I've filed disputes with my credit card and paypal.)
The worst parts I'm now stuck trying to find an alternate plan for high season, a mere week before we leave. There's just not much left out there. The situation stinks.
