A very good open-air market. In addition to vegetables, fruits, cheeses and pastries, there are many textiles and clothing. I bought a very nice Italian hooded jacket. There are also many beautiful blouses, jogging suits, scarves, bags, belts and Italian T-shirts. You have to come early, because all the best things are sold out quickly.
Getting there: Metro Place Monge, open Wed, Fri and Sunday from 7 am - 14:30 pm (according their website).
Located nearby Jardin des Plantes and can also be easily combined with a visit to the Pantheon.

Probably most noted for the food market that is here several days a week. And the market has spawned some good food stores on the streets around it. But it is also a lovely square in the middle of the University area, and we came here to visit a friend who lives near here. We love this area.

Place Monge Market runs three times a week. They sell produce, cheese and also purses, shoes and clothing. Found some toddler shoes that were 15 euros and found out that they sell in the States for around 50-70 dollars. Great deal.

in place monge station, I experienced racial discrimination. so if you have any question to employee who works in station, you would better to go another station.

My friend and I were looking for a place for breakfast early one Sunday morning on rue Mouffetard, but we were too early and absolutely nothing was open. By accident, we went through Place Monge and the Sunday market was set up and ready for us!
I recommend with all my heart the Lebanese stand that is in one corner of the market, selling excellent Lebanese food: hot fatayer, felafel, hummus, and so many more items. We bought big fatayer (a kind of pastry) triangles filled with cheese, tomato, and spinach, which the father heated up for us so that the cheese was melty. We also bought some felafel, and the son threw in a container of creamed garlic for us to dip the felafel in. We bought some lovely fruit for dessert from another stall.
It was 7:30 on a rainy Sunday morning. We were the only customers in the market. We ate our picnic under a big umbrella, happy as two kids can be. We couldn't have asked for a better breakfast.
I hadn't known about the Place Monge Sunday market, but I think I will go back there expressly to eat this wonderful food, served by kind and caring hosts.

The walk along Rue Monge which is just below Pantheon is a charming and cozy entrance into everyday French life. Lots of shops selling the most delicious foods and then the historic Place Monge with its historic food market!

We had the best offerings and the most pleasant experience in this market compared to some others. Definitely a market catering to Parisians, not tourists. Be sure to visit the purveyor of honey and mustards. Seasonal fruits and vegetables, a few prepared foods and wonderful offerings for cheese/charcuterie/meats to take and cook.

We ate for days off the finds we found in the market. The live music and dancers were great too. It was a wonderful day here during the market and we found great restaurants and shops the other days. We returned her many times over our week in Paris.

The market is on 3 times a week - Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. I visited on a Friday and there was a mix of fresh produce and clothes on sale. It isn't a large market so you can easily make it around all the stands. It is worth a visit if you are staying in the area.

Small weekend market offers a a wide range of fruit, vegetables, seafood, cheese, as well as Lebanese Morrocan and other African food. We found the stall holders to be exceptionally friendly and were very generous in their extra offerings as we purchased food from them. All this was the basis for a fabulous feast of great food back in our rental apartment, without much preparation!

What days was the market open? We are staying right across the street. Thanks!

I went to the Sunday market but I believe they are also open one other day in the week (Wed or Thu, not sure). Sunday is quite popular but make sure you're there in the morning because by midday they are all starting to pack up.

Looking to rent an apartment for the month of September 2015 in the Latin Quarter. Where is the best place. Is Place Monge convenient to everything? What about restaurants?
