We end our walks on Paris across this very beautiful bridge: we saw several newlyweds taking photos, models landing for photos in this stunning setting and the Eiffel Tower in the background. It was a cool walk to do in the afternoon of a beautiful day. This trip was to know the most beautiful and romantic city in the world and celebrate our years of marriage and companionship of life. To be there, to walk the sidewalks and charming streets where Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel walked, to know her first store, to glimpse the famous staircase where the fashion shows of his refined creations took place, to visit the magnificent sights of the light city, the cafes and restaurants, imagine Ernest Hemingway sitting at one of the tables having his favorite drink, was a unique and extraordinary experience. We will take a beautiful reminder of our first visit to Paris. We hope to come back other times to see the most romantic and beautiful city we had the opportunity to visit. We loved to know every piece of this beautiful, unique and very, very romantic city.

Get a taste of your own Inception moment right here. It's the spot Leonardo's character Cobb was training Ariadne on the basics on mind construct.

The Pont de Bir-Hakeim is both a pedestrian bridge a rail-bridge, with the metro travelling on top of the street-level crossing. Walk along side the bridge and I was rewarded with a beautiful view of the Eiffel and the symmetrical columns provides interesting framing opportunities.

The Pont de Bir-Hakeim actually crosses a little tiny isle in the middle of the Seine called Île aux Cygnes, much much smaller than the Île de la Cite. In fact, three bridges crosses this oasis of calm in the middle of the bustling city. Point of note: at the far end of this tiny island stands a smaller sibling of the Statue of Liberty.

PROS
* Well known bridge across the Seine River
* A very short walk from the Eiffel Tower
* Photographic spot for the river with Eiffel Tower in the background
* Unique outpouching plaza on the east side to rest and enjoy the view
* Unique with the metro 6 line going as an elevated railway above the street and pedestrian walkway
* There is a walkway in the middle between the two directional lanes of traffic too
* Named for a famous World War II battle in north Africa

CONS
* Not necessarily attractive nor elegant- it has a gritty feel of a big city
* Noisy from the traffic and the train above

"I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
... because I had seen videos of the metro passing over the top of this bridge, with the Seine River and the Eiffel Tower in the background. i wanted to secure photos and videos of that.... except one can't do that from being on the bridge itself- one has to go down onto Ile aux Cygnes, which this bridge passes over its eastern tip, or down to the bridge that passes over the area of the replica Statue of Liberty of Paris, and that I did the subsequent day, but it's a bit too far away for me to capture the videos as seen in promotions that I had viewed.

It was a very cloudy and overcast cold morning as I walked along the street and took photos of the river and Eiffel Tower, of people doing portraits, of a red balloon seller, of cars, of people riding bicycles and of the train as it passed over me.

It was an OK visit, but lesson learned- one can't see the metro passing over the bridge from standing on the bridge and under the metro train

WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
It is free to walk across this bridge

WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN?
Maybe. I certainly wouldn't go out of my way or have it on a list of things to do for my next visit to Paris.

ADVICE
* Not a necessary destination on your itinerary
* To get the famous view of the metro passing on top of the bridge, go further west to the next bridge, or maybe stand on the right bank also beyond the bridge

Lucked up on some excellent photographs of “Inception” bridge while leaving Trocadero Gardens(to capture the Eiffel Tower at sunrise).

I started my photographic weekend at this bridge. It can get very busy as there is a roadway on each side, a transit train up above, and a walkway directly under the bridge on the same level as the roadway. The iron architecture is very interesting and includes old rivets and archways which can be use din your photos. The bridge is across the Seine River and you can see multiple statues as well as the Eiffel Tower from it. Probably the best time to photograph is in the morning to avoid walking and car traffic.

The Le Pont de Bir-Hakeim bridge crosses the Seine River and connects the city's 15th and 16th arrondissements. The unique bridge has two levels: the lower one for cars and pedestrians, and the upper level for Line 6 of the Paris Metro. The 777-feet steel bridge was constructed between 1903 and 1905, replacing an earlier bridge that had been erected in 1878. In 1948, the bridge was renamed to commemorate the Battle of Bir Hakeim, fought by Free French forces in North Africa against the German Afrika Korps in 1942. Many commemorative plates dedicated to soldiers killed during WWII decorate the bridge. Support pillars of the central arch are decorated with four high-relief stone statues depicting the figures of Science, Labor, Electricity, and Commerce. Many movies have featured this bridge including the Last Tango in Paris. On our first visit to Paris, one night we stumbled upon Le Pont de Bir-Hakeim by accident and found that it provided a fantastic viewing spot for the Eiffel Tower light show. It is also less crowded than many of the other bridges in Paris that cross the Seine.

Located on the pont de bir-Hakeim, the lookout provides a nice view of the Eiffel tower and being one of the bridges that has a unique architecture in central Paris with train, car and pedestrian access. It might not be the cleanest bridge though.

Pont de Bir-Hakeim has a lot of social media fans playing with the bridge's architecture as it makes great shots! If you want a good view of Eiffel and take home some great photos, I suggest you visit this gem.

Like many, I wanted to see this bridge ever since I saw the movie Inception and indeed it's worth seeing! It's not about the bridge only, if you take a walk you'll have a great view on la seine and the Eiffel tower, definitely pleasant and romantic.

The bridge itself is nice enough, but the location is what makes it special. Many pictures of the Eiffel Tower are taken from this bridge, which should come as no surprise. There are great views to be had here, and it is far from the crowds in and around Trocadero.

Hint: early morning is the best time to arrive. Almost nobody is here, and the sunrise views are nothing short of breathtaking.
