A wonderful time had by all coming from far and wide to paint... even from a sand bank in the center of the Loire river and its glistening light. Lodged on the grounds of an enchanted Chateau with spectacular views and delicious food and ambiance. The pleasures of France and the meditative pleasure of painting and jovial ambiance of the... Painting in Paris and at the chateau with Nicholas was most definitely a lifetime highlight! Learning to look, experience different views in Paris, meet others and start a life long journey of painting was so special. I now notice details on buildings, how stairs go up or down and what is on either side, how the water meets the land... More

The classes I took with Nikolas were some of the most rewarding and comprehensive art instruction. Going to class was always a joy and no stress environment.

I had such an enjoyable time painting 'au plein air' with the group just 5 years ago . Loved the various painting spots, the company of fellow aspiring artists from all around the world , and also the various restaurants we ate at that we wouldn't have known about without Nicholas . I will always remember the experience!

I thoroughly enjoyed the PARIS CITYSCAPE class and applied everything I learned to teaching in my own classroom back at home. It was a wonderful week workshop where we went from one beautiful venue to another and learned a very fresh approach to sketching and painting. Nikolas does a great job of teaching to each student's ability yet challenging all... More

Just finished 6 great days of painting classes, each day at a dynamic Paris location. I hadn't painted in over 25 years and wanted a chance to rekindle my interest. Atelier Alupi was the perfect choice. Nicholas is a very talented artist, coming from a strong artistic family. He was patient, informative, inspirational, and fun to be with. He tailored... More

I had the best time taking this class with Atelier Alupi! I took the week long class in and around Paris. Each day we would meet at a new location around Paris and paint, most people used watercolors in the class but I used acrylics. Nicholas is a wonderful teacher and I learned so much. He made everything very easy... More

I was in the planning stages of setting up a honeymoon trip for my wife and I. My wife is an artistic and creative person and had recently talked about switching from stencil to watercolor painting (she had little experience with water color painting). After extensive research I reached out to several painting studios to setup a lesson for my... More

I've traveled to France many times, but wanted a really different experience than just site seeing. I went to the chateau with no knowledge of watercolor at all. With my limited french and beginner status artist .. I settled in and learned so many things that have given me the foundation to go on and become an artist! To this... More

These summer I spent a wonderful week in France, near Amboise in a chateau having painting and drawing courses organized by Atelier Alupi. It was really a grate cultural and artisric experience, very helpful and inspiring . During the stay we had a lot of practice and could share experience with people from different country which was very enriching. We... More

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighborhood Profile
Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the center of Paris this neighborhood has something for every hour of the day.
