An excellent way to spend your left over holiday funds. Great variety and historic building. A must see for keen shoppers. My wife loves it.

There are 3 Galeries Lafayette stores: one for men, one for home and the main one (LaFayette Coupole) for women and children. The latter has a nice terrace on the 8th floor that overlooks Paris, and not so bad self service restaurant on the 6th. All the brands you can think of can be found there, including a Disney store.... More

If you after shopping then this might be quite challenging, but this place is worth to visit to see inside and also roof top view is fabulous and best of all - it costs you nothing. Shop or actually hundreds of micro shops are chaotic and very hard to navigate so we gave up shopping very quickly. There is one... More

This is a real shopping experience set in a lovely stained glass dome. When you need a break there are a variety of restaurants on the sixth floor. Choose a table by the window and get a nice view of the skyline including the backside of the Opera. Further down and across the street is the Home department with may... More

I have been there to watch a Fashion Show, the first in my life, and better, in Paris. It was unforgettable.

Galeries Lafayette is a must-do when in Paris. The ground floor (particular cosmetics) is hot, crowded, and utterly overwhelming - push through to find a way to the upper floors so that you can take in the incredible balconies and, of course, the breathtaking stained glass dome. The dome looks best in daylight (hard to see the detail after dark).... More

Even if you don't like shopping, this place is worth the visit. The venue is very beautiful and the terrace upstairs offers some nice views on Paris. The rooftop restaurant was closed but one day I will return and get lunch or coffee here.

This was well worth a visit even if it was very expensive - there was a sale on and even with that it was way too expensive for the average tourist - There were 7 floors and right on top a roof area with a bar and some of the best views of Paris - the Effel tower, Notre Dame... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighborhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
