Super expensive but a huge mall for fashionistas!

I loved the mall and would have bought all the cosmetics and perfumes but it wasn't fitting my budget , so gave it a miss 🙂. The entire 5th floor is for kids and it's beautiful... read more

If you can shop around sunset, the entire stained glass dome is spectacular! Other than that the international shopping is exquisite. The staff are multilingual and very helpful. Don't forget to get your purchases registered at the store to collect your sales tax back at the airport!

If you love to shop (especially high end shopping), you'll love Galeries Lafayette. Tons of designer clothes, shoes, and much more. Personally, I like high end stuff (especially shoes), but typically I don't like to spend my money on them. So in general, I'm not much of a shopper. However, just the building alone, with its gorgeous dome, is worth... More

I loved the mall and would have bought all the cosmetics and perfumes but it wasn't fitting my budget , so gave it a miss 🙂. The entire 5th floor is for kids and it's beautiful. Would've loved to buy a Dior or an Armani for my lil enfant but the prices were rocketing high. A wonderful feeling to see... More

We spent almost 2 hours for lining up at LV (to get in). There were way too many tourist shoppers that made the experience of shopping for luxury goods as buying groceries. Don't waste your time for lining up. Find some other location if you know what you want to buy. A department store is good for some one wants... More

this is a great place to shop. It's like a mall in the states. These are high end brands. The main building is 6 floors with a viewing terrace on the roof. Next door is the mens items and across the street to that is the food / kitchen items

There are and have been some great department stores: John Wanamakers Philadelphia, Nordstroms Seattle, KaDaWe Berlin and this store Galleries Lafayette. The glass dome in this store is truly amazing and worth it to just go see it and walk around from the top floor down. Go see it you will enjoy you don't need to spend any money simply... More

I will allow others to critique the quality of shopping at the Galeries Lafayette, and simply say that the structure is beautiful and well worth seeing as part of a tour of the Ópera quartier in Paris. The rooftop terraces provide a splendid, free view of the back of Ópera Garnier and the expansive rooftops of Paris. The Galeries Lafayette... More

Be sure you are in the building with the spectacular domed ceiling; ask the guards as you go in. It's the building where they have all the perfume on the ground floor Most gorgeous department store I have ever seen. Also fun to look around from an upper floor to appreciate the "balconies." Really good selection of quality souvenirs on... More

Probably the most gorgeous shopping area we have ever seen. Roof top terraces offers scenic views of Paris skyline, but the story is inside. Shops are predominantly high end designer with prices beyond most tourists.

People repeatedly told us that the people in Paris were unfriendly but we found that to be anything but true here in Galeries Lafayette. Seeing a Mother and Daughter pouring over the cosmetics counters, the clothes and all the other wonderful delights of this place we found people to be friendly and accommodating. Many of the ladies at the cosmetic... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighborhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
