Took a Paris city tour which finished at Notre Dame cathedral. It was my second time to Paris but first to visit the cathedral. It is magnificent and for sure a must see. Although there was a bit of a line to get in, it moved quickly and once inside you could take you time enjoying.

This is an inspiring place! Take time to just sit and meditate on the faith of those who took the time and effort to build this magnificent church to God!

This gothic church should be the first place to visit when in Paris because it is simply majestic! What I liked the most is the fact that it is not a museum and people still pray there, thus I was lucky to attend a mass in French.

There always seems to be a cue. We got there early the cue was twice as long when we came out. The inside is beautiful but could do with a good dust. We paid to see the plate which was really beautiful. Learnt about Saint Denis which was interesting to us as my husband is called Denis. Advice would be... More

This is a beautiful architectural building, but the interior is in much need of repair and cleaning.

Beautiful, awe-inspiring and a feast for the eyes. Don't miss it. it was free to visit the main part of the cathedral. It is situated in the beautiful Latin Quarter. The stain glass windows and gothic architecture are stunning.

We went twice to the cathedral while in Paris. There is just something about it . If cathedrals were built to inspire awe, it sure works, even for a modern athiest, I am awe inspired.

Standing at the very heart of the city, Notre Dame is an iconic cathedral and a staple entry on any list of what to see in Paris. With its looming ceilings and magnificent stained-glass windows, it's a wonderful place to visit. Its fame and location leave it slightly over-glorified, but it's genuinely impressive all the same. Entry is free to... More

This is the ultimate Sunday mass service! Don't have to wait in the line, just walk up and tell them you're there to attend mass. We went to the 11:30 jams service and it was outstanding. Really unbelievable that there were people trying to take pictures in mass (that were asked by ushers to stop or leave...) and such chaos... More

Amazing cathedral but dark on cloudy days, the architecture is stunning, the artifacts and icons surprising and the art only fades in comparison to the Louvre

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
