It turned out to be Not as good as we thought. If you have been to Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, or Sevilla cathedral the cathedral here will not seem to be very beautiful. Be aware of birds at the square - one of then set at the head of my son and frightened him

Without a doubt, this was the highlight of my trip to Paris and the attraction that I talked about constantly when I returned home. Don't be turned off by the queues to enter the interior of the Cathedral, as they move quickly and you get to experience and observe the amazing architecture on the buildings exterior walls while you wait.... Not my first time to Notre Dame, but loved it as much as my previous trip. The whole facade, inside and out is an amazing work of art. A beautiful house of God.

I could spend a day at this Cathedral as there is so much intricate detail in the stone work, and every little nook and cranney has something to see and appreciate. I LOVED Notre Dame and will go back!

Free entry, although long queues build up during the morning, makes this a popular attraction. Inside, the cathedral appears gloomy until your eyes adjust. A fascinating exhibition of the building of the cathedral and some wonderful medieval stained glass makes the visit worth while.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
