Beautiful church, stained glass you have to see. Can move at your own pace and not feel rushed. A stop you should include in visit to Paris

Notre Dame has quite a history so be sure to learn about it when you go. It's quite beautiful to see as well.

Paris is choc-a-bloc with things to see and do -- and they are all tightly packed within walking distance of each other ( mostly), but entry to most attractions can be pricey unless you have bought a Paris Pass in advance. One of the few great places you can enter for free is Notre Dame Cathedral. Even in March this... More

Impressive, but OMG, I felt like it was a Disneyland attraction; although admission was free, there were sever outlets to pay more to view treasured items as well as dispensaries for coins with the Pope's picture pressed into it. Several gift shops, and of course donations for candles. Didn't feel right for all that capitalist activities to be taking place... More

Seriously, I love Notre Dame Cathedral for a new reason, beyond the beauty and the sketchy past history, NOW, during Mass I can truly sense the Presence of God in this place. That's new!

This is an awe inspiring gothic building and has benefited from restoration, just take a seat and gaze up at the roof and think about when it was built and the impact it must have had on the people.

Notre-Dame is still so beautiful! Unfortunately, a big part of the cathedral was closed today due to a Vivaldi concert taking place in the evening. I am sure the music will sound beautiful in the cathedral. The windows were bright even though there was a storm outside. It is so much more beautiful inside than outside.

Even in a crowd Notre Dame provides a place for quiet reflection and great beauty as the light streams through so many beautiful windows

Even on a rainy day, a must see. Free entry unless you want to climb to the top 😃 Take the front entrance NOT the side as the side line is for those who are climbing to the top

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
