Saw from river cruise along the seine in June 2012. Then in October 2013, rode by and stopped in front of Notre dame (our lady) during an evening bike tour of Paris. Many sights such as the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, and Notre dame are illuminated in the evening. Located along the seine river. Massive building designed in gothic architecture style... More

Visiting Paris in and of itself is amazing, but being in the presence of this other-worldly cathedral was literally surreal. It was amazing signing the guest-book, and praying for our family members who have passed away.

Stopped off here from the bus trip. The building is awesome with a long history. There is much to see inside with lots of small worship areas along the sides of the cathedral. Entry is free and you can contribute if so wish. There is a 5 euro entrance fee to see the cathedrals treasury with a good display rare... More

Free to enter, and the queue across the forecourt moves quickly. A small donation/fee gets you access to the Treasury and that was worth the visit. Hard to visit Paris without checking out this iconic church

Absolutely gob smackingly good. There was a long queue to get in outside, but it moved really quickly so don't get put off by it. Free entrance, and if you want to see the treasure you need to pay a fee. I didn't bother with this part as there was so much to see walking around... all of the stained... More

Notre Dame is a must see if you are in Paris. It is beautiful beyond belief. Directly behind the cathedral is a WWII memorial that is very informative and moving.

We went for a stroll from our hotel in Paris and got great views of Notre Dame all lit up at night! It was a great sight! We went inside for a look around (it's free) and took some photos. It's spectacular at night!

This is a must-see for those first timers in Paris. Just be there during off-peak hours as the queue can be very, very long during peak hours. If you do not have the patience of standing in queues for a long time (Like I do), you can walk around the cathedral and admire its exteriors. Be mindful of your things... More

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
