The area
Neighborhood: Tour Eiffel / Invalides
With the Eiffel Tower at its core, the Invalides area of Paris is guaranteed to impress. Golden towers and Baron Haussmann's urban vision meet military precision, stretching avenues, and luscious lawns. The area boasts the Musée D’Orsay, the tomb of Napoleon, the National Parliament and UNESCO, as well as luxurious, exclusive residences. In fine restaurants and at the weekend markets, families, diplomats, and politicians brush shoulders with the tourists who come to see this postcard-perfect area for themselves.

Well the big one is the Tour Eiffel but there are other monuments such as Ecole Militaire and Invalides. Plus the huge Champs de Mars park. This is Paris' wealthiest district, so it is loaded with big expensive apartment blocks with large flats.

The 7th Arrondissement is one of the most interesting and beautiful areas of Paris. We walked quite a lot through this area, mostly visiting various sights. And there is a multitude of amazing sights to visit, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Musee d'Orsay, the Hotel des Invalides, the Musee de l' Armee and Napoleon's Tomb, Musee Rodin and many others. One of the nicest things one can do is also a stroll down the banks of the River Seine, or a cruise if you prefer. Not to be missed.

The 7th is a high end area near the center of Paris. A taxi driver mentioned it’s an expensive neighborhood along with the 16th, 1, 3 and 4. Very safe. Our hotel was on the 7th and points of interests are the Eiffel Tower, Champ de Mars, Rue Cler, Les Invalides, Museum Orsay, among others. There’s a great mix of residential buildings, cafes, restaurants and some shops.

My husband and I have visited Paris 21 times. Since 2000 we have always stayed in the 7th arrondissement. We consider it our neighborhood. This is a quiet, beautiful quarter, removed from the heavily trafficked tourist areas. The restaurants in the area are fantastic. Le Florimond is our favorite, but Pasco and Le Pet't Troquet are also very good. We also love rue Cler and Café Central. After a day of busy touring there's nothing better than to return to this peaceful neighborhood, easy to reach by Métro, quiet, sophisticated, and filled with wonderful hotels ( check out Muguet and Empereur) and restaurants. I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

The 7th is my favorite Arrondissement in all of Paris. It's so wonderfully convenient to everything. We had the pleasure to stay in Paris for one month and our apartment was in the 7th so we had a chance to really experience it well.
We were near Invalides which is also in the 7th. Everything you can possibly need is a short walk away. Tons of bakeries, stores, cafes, etc. We would go into the same bakery every day and get greeted by the owner who would give our kids cookies.
We loved being close to the Bon Marché Epicure which had really great products and desserts and groceries. The Eiffel Tower was a short walk away as well as just about everything else.
Great little parks that you probably wouldn't find unless you were a local. For example, Jardin Catherine Lebouré is a GREAT park to just relax in if you have kids. It's a gated park and you probably would never know a park was there. It's around the corner from the Bon Marché and the access is on rue de Babylone.
We walked around an average of 4 or 5 hours each day exploring Paris and the 7th is still our favorite neighborhood. One of our favorite cafes to go to (with amazing food too) was Le Tourville not far from the Eiffel Tower.
I'd highly recommend staying in the 7th while on vacation.

My husband and I stayed in the 7th Arrdondissement during our trip to Paris September 2013. This truly is the best neighborhood to stay in. We rented an apartment on a quiet side street and we were close to everything. Rue Cler was two blocks away, both the metro and RER were less than a five minute walk and there were many cafes, bars, bakeries and shops just steps away from the apartment. This is our third trip to Paris and our first renting an apartment and staying in the 7th, we will definitely stay there again.

I stayed in rented apartment at 7 arrondissement in November 2013. It's great and safe neighborhood surrounded by cafés and restaurant and I went to Eiffel, Napoleon Tomb, Invalides, Musee Rodin, Alexander Port, Jardin du trocadero, Champs de Mars, Ecole Militaire, Grand Palais, Petit Palais. La Seine River are within Walks! I even went to Champs-Élysées and Arc de Triomphe by walked :)

From here it is an good location getting to know the sights from Paris by foot or Metro.
Here our hidden champions we found so far:
Boulanger & Patissier Sébastian Brettau - 31, avenue de la Motte Piquet close to Metro 8 Station Ecole Militaire.
Le Crepuscule - 18 rue Amelie, Metro la Tour-Maubourg Line 8.
Musée Rodin - 79 rue de Varenne - not over crowded

This district isn’t our favourite area of Paris. It is important, granted, you have to go see the Eiffel Tower and les Invalides where Napoleon is buried and the park is nice. There is a highly recommended walking / shopping street called rue Cler but it isn’t our favourite. (Our favourite walking / shopping streets of Paris are reviewed at Paris : Marais 3rd and 4th districts/quartiers/arrondissements) and Paris : Latin Quarter 5th arrondissement or district)
What are favourites are the musee Rodin on rue Varenne (Metro Varenne) and the musee d’Orsay (Metro Orsay RER). Musee Rodin is a nice place for a picnic in summer where you can walk among his statues and a nice place in winter for a tour inside. and the musee d'Orsay is a treat whenever we go to Paris.
We also liked the Bateaux Mouches which is located at Pont d’Alma, as a one off.

Podem me ajudar? É perigoso andar a noite em Paris? Ex: retornar da Disney de trem e descer na estação do arco do triunfo lá pelas 23:30 e ir a pé pro hotel?
Written June 30, 2021
it depends on your interest in Rodin, there are 5 acres, mostly beautiful gardens, the museum itself could take an hour or 2 at most to generally view, but if you have detailed interest in Rodin or periods of his work, you could spend a few hours there, he was a prolific artist throughout his life so there is much to see, i hope this helps some

Hi!! We will be in Paris March 8-12 and staying near Rue Cler. I would love a recommendation on a great cafe where we might have breakfast every morning and hopefully enjoy the same staff or owner everyday. Cafe du Marche seems to be a popular choice. Thank you!

We plan to spend an entire day in the 7th Arr. with lunch at the Eiffel Tower. What other landmarks are in that area that we should plan to see in that day? We have 4 more days for other areas. We are staying in Marais.

Les Invalides, l'assemblée nationale, Maillol museum, and also a few good stores around Le bon marché.

Hi
We are visiting Paris for 3 nights in July
We’ve been before and have seen the Eiffel Tower & Louvre. We want to see Versailles Palace & Notre Dame Cathedral. We want to stay in between the 2, in nice upscale area, where would you recommend?? 7th Arr?? I was looking at Hotel Napoleon in 8th but may be too far...

I stayed at Hotel Villa Saxe Eiffel last year July. Its in the 7th, about a 25minute walk from the Eiffel tower. I really enjoyed my stay there, the neighbourhood is quite upscale.

Is the Hotel meridien well located
Written March 7, 2015
Not sure which hotel you mean. The only one I could find was the Meridien Etoile, which is not well-located. Be sure your hotel is near a Metro stop, then location isn't as important. For tourists, it's generally better to be in a single-digit Arrondiessment.
