Huge Park right behind Eiffel Tower. We stroll along the park after visiting the tower as is a great spot to stop and take some photos of the tower. The park has many benches to relax ,very crowded ,a lot of people locals and tourists go for picnic but unfortunately the park wasn't well kept.
Many street vendors trying to sell souvenirs ,beers ,wine ,cigarettes etc, take care of gypsies running scams on tourists.
Not the most beautiful park but great spot for photos.

A very nice park and also a great spot to view the Eiffel Tower. From the other end of the park the view of the Eiffel Tower awesome. On a nice day this park is crowded and also a good spot for picnic in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Come to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower and stay to watch the people or for a relaxing picnic. This park provides wonderful views of the Eiffel Tower and many Parisians are at the park just to relax. There are benches along the side of the park and just a nice place to rest and relax those tired tourist feet.

Excuses must be made for the long stretch of park between the Paris Military School and the Eiffel Tower in the fact that there is so much historical beauty. Yet the park itself is poorly maintained, it is overrun by people trying to sell tat and there is actually a poor smell in the area. It is a shame because the park itself could be beautiful, but alas.

It is very tempting to sit down on the grass and have a mini picnic with Eiffel Tower as your view. It is a really beautiful park to relax and hang out in while enjoying the grandness that is Eiffel.
Pro Tip: Come here early morning for less crowds. You'll get a lot of really nice pictures with less people!

Parc du Champ de Mars is nice place to get pictures of the Eiffel Tower. It is a long park the takes you from the Le Grand Palais Ephemere museum to the Eiffel Tower. On my visit the park looked pretty nice, pathways were cleared, the grass field were fenced off, seems like they were trying to regrow the grass. I took a stroll at night, and the park has probably the best view of the Eiffel Tower, you can catch the light show, on the top of the hour, take photos and selfies, just an amazing view. Overall, I think that Pars du Champ de Mars is good place to visit, you can walk towards the Eiffel Tower or take pictures.

Not surprisingly, I suppose, Paris is full of people, many of whom seem to be in a hurry to get somewhere else. The hectic pace wears on us small town folk. So, I was DELIGHTED to come across this large patch of green space where it is possible to sit, meditate, and absorb all one has seen and experienced.

The Champ de Mars (Field of Mars) is a large public greenspace along one side of Eiffel Tower. You can take nice full height photos of Eiffel Tower from here. As you walk closer to the tower, you cannot take full pics because the tower is a massive structure. So take from Champs de Mars first, then walk towards tower and then up to Level 2 or TOP by lift.
Many tour buses stop along road here for tourist to take photos. The lawns here were formerly used as drilling and marching grounds by the French military.

This is a park located right behind the Eiffel tower. It goes all the way to the military school. It is a place that people go to have picnics and gatherings in special celebration/days.
Instagram Hot spot. Nearby metro: Ecole Militaire exit and walk to your right until you see the end of the park.

The park is named after the Campus Martius ("Mars Field") in Rome, a tribute to the The Latin name of the Greek God of war. During the "Behind the Scenes" tour of the Eiffel Tower, we visited the bunker under the Champs de Mars which connected L'École Militaire. Very cool!
This is a great scenic route to get to the Eiffel Tower, great photo opts! We did find the park wasn't in its best shape, probably normal with all the people lying around, "flâner" like the French say, but still a grand and beautiful park.

Hi! My class is going to Paris on Friday (June 28th 2024) and me and my friends want to go to the Champ de Mars in order to have a little breakfast picknick. However, because of the Olympiade, there are going to be several road barriers, that will interfere with traffic and people. Is it true, that Champ de Mars won't be accesible for tourists? And what about la Place de la Concorde? Additionaly Im confused on whether a metro line, which goes through a "banned" metro Station ( at our time of visit Concorde and Tuileries ) stops before these stations and turns around or if they just skip the station but still pass through it. Of someone knows an answer to any of ny questions I'd be really gratefull! Thanks for your help... : )

Hi how long is it advisable to stay at the park for? Looking at going to the Eiffel Tower then going for a picnic during the day. How long should I stay for?
Written April 4, 2020
That is a question almost impossible to answer since I do not know exactly how you travel. You may -- or may not -- have to stand in line for up to two hours to get to the top of the Eiffel Tower, and how long do you anticipate being on the tower itself (for pictures and just generally enjoying the sites). And when you say picnic, are you referring to noshing a sandwich as you stroll through the grounds, or having a proper French picnic with a bottle of wine to sip with cheese and charcuterie? In addition, how long do you have in Paris? If only a day or so, you obviously will not want to spend half a day or more, but if you are there for several days, a relaxing afternoon could be just what you want!

Can we take a picnic with wine in the park at 6pm?
Written July 14, 2019
You most certainly can. Did it at least 20 times with no issue no matter the hour. And everyone is doing it as well.

What time does the park open today for the Bastille Day concert?

We are visiting Paris in May 2018. Have heard some issues about crime/safety in certain areas. We are considering renting an apartment (airbnb) near either Champ de Mars area or Musee d'Orsay. Wonder if those are safe areas and also whether they are in walking distance of Paris' major sites. We are willing to walk 2-3 miles to visit sites. Thank you!

We didn't feel unsafe in either area. We had dinner about a block away from the Champ de Mars and then walked over to the park to watch the Eiffel Tower twinkle at night. You have to be careful but it wasn't unsafe. Both are pretty central and the metro is crazy easy to get around on.

Hi, is it safe to stroll through the park between 8pm - 10pm?
Written July 23, 2016
Not recommended to stroll because it was pretty dark during Jan winter night and you could barely see any beautiful sight. I vaguely remembered it was about 9pm after almost closing time of Eiffel Tower. There was very little light in the park, probably because it was off-peak tourist season and the lights were weak from lamp posts. There were very little people in the park, didn't pay attention to what they were doing (like strolling or just walking through). Spotted 2 persons who tried to take picture of Eiffel Tower from their locations in the park. We did not sense any dodgy characters around in the park. I guessed at that point of time, it was the absence of the view, our wariness of muggers and the coldness of the weather that got us brisk walking. I was with my husband so there were 2 of us. Took us about 10 min to get to the other end.

There is a bronze of a chap looking like a hypnotist, near the kids area. Who was he? I'm guessing Mesmer????

Hi, is it worth paying the extra for breakfast? I have been quoted £9 per person (there are four of us staying) or is it better to go to one of the cafes nearby. My daughter does like a cooked breakfast - is it a continental that they offer?
Thanks
