Went for drinks. Certainly unique look. We were there early so not many people. Good music playing. We ended up ordering some food. I was surprised they offered such a variety to serve in the bar.

I went with a few local friends for my birthday drinks as I was visiting Paris. The bar, and the hotel in general, is spectacularly beautiful. If you want somewhere for a special occasion, this is the place to be.

The drinks are extremely expensive, but you know that they will be - it's the Plaza Athenee - and you shouldn't go expecting to get much change from 40 euros for a decent cocktail. That said, the cocktails are delicious, creative and use the finest spirits. The staff, though initially a little distant, are very friendly if you get chatting to them. It is definitely the sort of place that can feel slightly intimidating and 'too fancy' if you're not a regular, but if you just relax and enjoy it, you can have a wonderful evening.

We also very much enjoyed people watching - if you like watching the world go by this is the place to be. There were groups of people celebrating birthdays and anniversaries and also lots of families, particularly uncles with their nieces. There were also one or two uncles who had lost their nieces and were searching for them, but by the time we left it seemed that they'd eventually paid someone to successfully track them down, although we could not work out where exactly they would have swiped their credit cards.

The eclectic and very international crowd only made for a really fun evening and I woudl not hesitate to go back for a special occasion next time I am in Paris.

Very classy, and expensive, young models looking for rich old guys, need to say more?
The music was nice, the atmosphere very sexy, and the girls were mostly very young with old businessman :/

There is simply no service, don’t botter raising your hand in Le Salon or calling the waiter. When they come they don’t take notes and then forget your order. After 25 minutes even our drinks had not come yet. Clearly understaffed and WAY below what one may expect from a “Palace” category hotel.

This is a place you want to have a charming champagne cocktail aperitif with your girl or friends tribe. When life returns to normal I will look out for Thierry the manager if he is still there. This establishment has the best staff ever in a luxury hotel I have come across.
Personalised and attentive

I first must start off by saying that I did not stay in this hotel. Dec. 28th after a nice dinner we decided to stop at this hotel for a nite cap before heading back to our 5 star hotel...We entered into the hotel and found it lovely, we always like to check out other hotels to see if we would stay there, we walked down the corridor to the bar, the corridor smelled so bad of cigar smoke, and keep in mind I am a smoker! But the best was as we entered the bar we were told where to sit and the friend I was with moved to a different seat so we could talk and the waiter made him move back to his assigned seat...But that is not why I write this review...Right in front of me at the bar I watched a hooker pick up a hotel guest. I would think that a hotel of this nature would not allow things to happen so blatantly. Especially since they were so concerned with our "seat assignments."
Believe me, we did not need entertainment after watching this woman with her hands on his privates and his hands on her ---!
Would I stay in a Hotel that deems this kind of behavior? Definetly not!

We went to the Plaza Athenee for a celebratory birthday cocktail (we were in Paris celebrating a friends 50th birthday). It is indeed one of the most gorgeous hotels I have ever seen, from the breathtaking facade to the interior courtyard, but somehow the bar missed when it comes to decor. I felt oddly dated and incongruent with the rest of the public spaces. However, that was the least of our concerns as it appeared that despite the $35 price for a drink, we were given some of the worst service I can remember in a high end hotel. The server and the bartender ignored us for a good ten minutes and when he did approach the table he was none to friendly. He took our order for three martinis (that would be American style martinis), which we clearly explained to him. In such an International establishment, one would hope that this is not even necessary. We then watched as the bartender ignored the order for another ten minutes (the bar was not busy in the least). In fact it seemed that the two of them where in some weird sort of spat....extremely unprofessional to say the least.

When the bartender decided to make our martinis we watched in horror as he started to poured vodka straight from the bottle into wine glasses. At this point, I approached the bar to tell him how to make an appropriate Martini. When I told him that he needed to use Martini glasses, he replied they didn't have any. WHAT? This is the PA in Paris! Interestingly enough, just as the words were rolling off of his tongue, a female server showed up with Martini glasses which she set in front of him with an utter look of disdain (intended for the bartender).
I then explained to him that Martini's should be shaken (as we had explained to the server) to which he responded....the Vodka is cold as it just came out of the freezer.
At this point, I was starting to lose my patience and tersely told him that Martinis need to be shaken with ice.....period....per our request. He gave me a snide look but did eventually shake the vodka for us.
We didn't let it ruin our evening, and in fact we had to laugh...the most expensive martini ever and I had to instruct the crabby bartender in the fine art of making one! But seriously, the hotel needs to take a good hard look at it's bar staff/service and training protocol. I've had better service in Starbucks!

We have been staying at the Hotel de Crillon but decided to visit the Plaza Athenee to check out the rooms and have tea in the lobby. We waited at the host desk of the lobby only to be told (by Benoit) that there aren’t any tables available even though we could see there are tables. We decided to wait, and lots of people paid their checks and left. So we approached the host desk again and this time another host let us know there is a table available which he would sanitize for us. A few minutes later (Benoit) the other host came back and said no this table is for my guests it’s not available. We politely said your colleague is sanitizing it for us, and he responded by saying no it’s not available. We asked for one of the other many tables available and he proceeded to say “do you think I’m lying ???” In a very rude confrontational way, a way that no hospitality staff member should ever speak to a guest. This is how they treat people who are visiting for a few hours, can you imagine how you they treat people staying there :)

Although 'Le Bar' is one of the best bars in town, the people running this place lack the courtesy needed in such places. So if u r in Paris at any time dont bother yourself 2 pay this bar a visit cz u might not be lucky enough to get inside for only a drink. Because someone will receive u outside telling u sorry u cant enter for there is a private party. But u can enter if u r staying in the hotel. By the way it is not the first time that we take a taxi to reach this hotel and we cant have a drink in the bar bcz as they say there is a private party. It seems lots of private parties take place in this hotel. So maybe the hotel management should announce 'Le Bar' a private bar bcz to me I see it disrespectful for anyone to tell him u cant come in tonight. We do t know what night we can come in!!! But im sure we dont need 2 know for there will b no other time...

Plaza Athenee is a nice hotel. However, when it is an occasion in Paris like fashion week..they will show you their ugly face. When I say ugly it is really ugly..degradation of a human's pride. I do not know where do they get this from..may be they took lessons from Mr. Gelbert Cost and his group of restaurants (Le Avenue) next door. My husband and I spend 600 Euros on a magnifecent dinner at Alaine Ducasse. We decided to go to the bar for a little drink. They let you enter only through the long, narrow lobby with the eyes of the clients looking at you. You get to the bouncer and it is a degrading trap. They deny your entrance because you are not on the "list" or a guest..while the bar is as empty as a the empty quarter desert, so you have to wake back through the same route in shame. I have never seen this anywhere else in Paris or the rest of the world (except at La Avenue and the rest of the Cost group of restaurants) and respectable Hotels Like Le Bristol or Four Seasons will never treat you as such. You do not want this experience and I do not recommend at all such a place.
