About
Girls' Guide to the World offers small group trips for women throughout the world. We go wine tasting in Bordeaux, truffle hunting in Provence, shopping at the Alsace Christmas Markets, temple touring in Bali, flower arranging in Kyoto and so much more! 50+ trips are offered in 2023. Our trips are NOT typical; they are for people who would normally NEVER take a guided tour. Instead, they are an opportunity to travel in style with a small group of like-minded women who share your appreciation for beauty and spirit of adventure. Most trips include all meals at gourmet establishments plus wine or bubbly with dinner. Lodging is always unique, boutique and 4 to 5 stars. We go off the beaten track to enjoy unique experiences with the locals with a focus on women. We come together from around the world, of different ages, ethnicities and backgrounds, and eave as friends who can't wait to go on another trip. We can also arrange bespoke tours for your group of 6 or more.

When I came across a description of the GG2P&B’s Writing, Wine & Wellness excursion to Bordeaux last year, I was a recent widow and thought the trip might simply allow me to write about love and loss while exploring the legendary French wine region. Wow, did I underestimate the benefits!
As the pandemic was still winding down, there were international travel hoops to jump through, but Doni’s team made the process seamless, and I landed in Bordeaux without a hitch. After sampling some of Doni’s recommended hotspots on my own for two days, I stepped into a GG2P&B private shuttle that whisked my seven new companions and me off to two chateaux where we settled in for the duration.
Our daily writing workshops with bestselling mystery writer Cara Black and Paris-based journalist Sarah Lieberman were fun and instructive. The meals were varied and outstanding, and the excursions (tours of St. Emilion, Jardins de Sardy, Michel de Montaigne’s chateau, Musée d'art Contemporain de Bordeaux, etc) were top notch. Our accommodations at Chateaux La Caussade and Carbonneau, surrounded by picturesque vineyards, offered quintessential French wine-country charm. On the rare occasion that there was a plot twist in our itinerary, Doni was there to smooth it out and keep us laughing.
One of the highlights that doesn’t come across in the GG2P&B trip descriptions is what happens when strangers with a common interest (in our case, writing) meet and travel together. We changed; we opened our minds and returned home with new perspectives.
A friend from home who had taken a GG2P&B trip a few years earlier gave me some advice before I left. She told me to sit with a different group member at every meal, so that I might find commonality with each. And sure enough, whether we were dining at Michelin star restaurants or washing down croissants with café au lait, every day we peeled back layers of who we were. In the end, we had bonded so tightly that this group that ranges in age from 38 to 80 now meets monthly by Zoom for book club, we message each other regularly in our What’s App thread, and since we returned stateside, we have independently reconvened in small and large groups in cities across the US and France.
One afternoon in Bordeaux, I was sitting in the chateau courtyard with Doni, and I asked her if it’s harder to lead a group of strangers than a group of friends or family members. “On the contrary,” she replied without hesitation. “A group of strangers? That’s where the magic happens.”
Treat yourself to a GG2P&B trip and find the magic!

Jennifer, you were such a wonderful addition to this tour. I'm beyond thrilled that your group of ladies has stayed in touch for over a year now and even taken trips together on your own. This group really was absolute MAGIC! Thank you for such a kind review.

I joined Girls' Guide to Paris & Beyond (GG2P) for a Luxury Tented Safari in Kenya. This was my first trip to Kenya. I arrived in Nairobi a few days before the tour began. GG2P had a chaperone who met me just prior to airport passport control. The chaperone assisted me through passport control and escorted me to the driver my hotel had arranged. Since I arrived early, I stayed at a hotel recommended by GG2P. The following day, GG2P driver met me at my hotel and transported me to the tours hotel. I was nervous traveling to Kenya alone and staying a few days along. GG2P made certain I arrived safely prior to me joining the group. GG29 offers true customer service and goes above and beyond to please each guest.
The Kenya Safari is my second trip to GG2P. I travel exclusively with GG2P due to the safety, affordable luxury, authentic itineraries and connection with other like minded woman. When traveling with GG2P, one not only experiences the beauty of the destination. Each tour is designed for a deep cultural experience which includes education about the destination, authentic culinary tastings, and speaking to woman leaders/entrepreneurs.
I am an introvert and was initially uncertain about traveling in a group. However, GG29 supported me in carving out time for myself. I often would have dinner in my my luxury tent. I would then retire to the ball in claw tub or my private soaking tub where I would sip wine by candle light and listen to the call of Africa.
While on safari, each morning I was greeted with a personal wake up call which included coffee/tea and small snack. Our group would spend the early morning hours on safari where we experienced beautiful sunrises and the amazing animals. We would return to our camp for breakfast. All meals were wonderful. Usually, before lunch, GG2P planned a talk with a female guest who would educate our group on conservation and women's life in Africa. Prior to dinner, our group would go on safari. Together we watched the awe inspiring sunsets of Kenya, sat around a camp fire under the African stars (my first experience seeing the Milky Way), eat small appetizers with a champagne toast before returning to the camp for dinner.
My favorite experience with GG2P is the comradery and connection I experienced with the guides, daily guests and the other women travelers. I have made life long friendships with each GG2P experience.

I had an exceptional experience on my trip to Morocco with Girls Guide to Paris & Beyond. The planning and guiding were executed with a keen eye for detail which
made some of our adventures on this journey truly magical.
When the group absolutely loved a destination, we asked to stay a bit longer and Doni, our guide, agreed to modify the itinerary a bit. Our wish was so easily granted! Our Moroccan guide was also wonderful and knowledgeable and made us feel safe and welcomed to his country.
Due to the resources and knowledge held by our host/guide this trip was effortless for me and full of memorable happenings and lovely pictures.
So looking forward to my next adventure with GG2P&Beyond!

Beware. Not all Girls Guide to Paris (GG2P) tours are led by Doni. The GG2P tour guide QUIT on Day 5 of the September 2021 8 day trip to Ireland. Besides leaving 5 clients stranded, there were several other substantive downgrades and changes from the advertised luxury itinerary, in my opinion. GG2P has offered me only a $232 refund on my $5231 Trip Cost.

I deeply regret that you didn’t enjoy your trip with us to Ireland. As you know as soon as you informed GG2P of the issues you had with about the trip on the evening of day 5 of a 7 day tour we took immediate action. You were moved to a nicer hotel in a different location. We also paid for two additional meals for you, which was over and above what was set up in the itinerary, plus you still were able to go to the 5-star hotel for tea. In short we did everything you asked us to do to resolve the matter. We also offered all monies that we recouped from the trip leader and organizer. We did not make any money on this tour due to these additional expenses. I am sad that all of our efforts didn’t please you. Luckily more than 95% of our clients love the trips they take with us. We aim to learn as much as we can from this experience and will not be using the trip leader again. Thank you for your feedback, I wish you well.

I left this review on the Girls Guide to Paris Facebook page and it mysteriously disappeared. I offer it here.
I could not decide between two Girls Guide trips this year, so I did both: Amalfi and Cote d'Azur.
Amalfi was beautifully designed. The hotels were well-located; the tours varied and interesting. The private yacht for our day in Capri was a highlight. Although, I don't know why we did Amalfi, Positano and Ravello all on the same day... Regina was a terrific tour leader. Calm and cool under pressure. The other ladies...well, they meshed well, but not with me. As in all things, one hopes to be lucky.
The Cote d'Azur trip began in Nice (and should have ended there). For the price of these tours, transfers to and from airports/train stations should be included. Ending in Arles was unnecessarily stressful and ended the trip on a sour note.
The Raoul Dufy exhibit was a highlight, but only hours in Aix felt shortchanged. Perhaps the itinerary was overly ambitious. Going to Belle Rive just for ice cream, Musee Mistral, the olive oil place, and LUME just for lunch (no art or exhibition) were questionable choices. Heather's walking tour in Arles was terrific, but would have been even better if we'd done it on our first day there, not the last. Ending the tour at Van Gogh's asylum was an inspired choice. But, choosing all our meals weeks ahead of time was a waste of our time (chefs change their minds) and an imposition. But the biggest failure was the extra charge for travel planning ($450!) that several ladies paid and received ZERO help. I hope they get refunds. To treat single women traveling solo (and new widows) so shabbily is disgraceful.
The ladies on this tour were all lovely and we had a wonderful time together. This time, I was lucky.

Oh No! I feel just terrible about the shortcomings you found on this tour. We've done it before with great success. Of course if you feel your trip planning wasn't adequate or of value I'd absolutely consider a refund. Wish you'd spoken to us about it directly. However our aim is to have everyone walk away thrilled with our travel experiences. I'll follow up with you directly on email to make this right and make any changes needed to this itinerary in the future.
However I am happy you enjoyed Amalfi! We value your feedback.

I am still on a natural high after spending a week with Doni and GGTP in Oaxaca, This trip fed my soul from the wonderful, supportive, smart, funny cultured women I had the privilege to travel with, to the incredible culture of the Oaxacan people which the average American is sadly ignorant of. The people, the food, the art, the history , and the architecture are incredible. Doni could not have planned an itinerary that ticked all the boxes for me more than this trip. Although we were tourists we were so immersed in the culture that we felt a part of it rather than on the outside looking in. It was truly an inspirational trip for me and at the risk of sounding over dramatic I will say it was life changing. I am encouraging all of my friends to go alone and I plan on going again alone. I never thought travelling with people I didn't know could be so amazing. It was!!! Finally, I have used all of my superlatives already but must say that Doni is one of a kind. We could not have felt more comfortable, cared for and heard than we did. Looking for my next trip already!

I still revel in the wonderful memories of the delightful September GGTP trip to Bordeaux and the Dordogne. Everything was outstanding-from the organization, accommodations, schedule, transportation, and the phenomenal cuisine. The Writer's Workshop portion could not have been better and heralded two accomplished writers, Cara Black and Sarah Lieberman. Each participant contributed greatly and left an imprint of my heart. Doni Belau was beyond outstanding in her leadership and ability to make this notably a trip of a lifetime but an opportunity to launch our own writing careers. Thank you, Doni, for your insight and dream.

You were such a superb addition to our writers retreat. You are not only a brilliant writer, you are one of the funniest, most enjoyable ladies ever! Every single lady on the trip completely adored you and adopted you as their new favorite auntie. I hope you'll join us again soon.

I was one of the 5 women traveling on this 8 day tour of Ireland. Our guide did not seem knowledgeable or interested in the history and sites of the areas we were visiting. When we requested more information she asked the bus driver to fill us in. When we voiced our concerns and needs she quit on day 5 and left us stranded. I have been on many tours but this was a first! Never had a guide quit! It was my first time with this company and it surely will be my last. The compensation offered to us after this disaster of a trip was $232. What an insult when we each paid over $5100 for this luxury guided tour. So if you do decide to tour with this company hope you get a wonderful knowledgeable guide and all goes smoothly and you do not have to ask for fair compensation.

I went with Girls Guide to Paris tour to Ireland. With 39 5-star reviews we thought it would be a great trip. It wasn't.
It was not a good tour: the logistics were bad, the guide did no guiding - just seemed to be along for the free trip - and when we, as a group, complained to Doni and to the guide, the guide quit and we saw a side of her that we wished we hadn't.
If you want to risk a tour with this company, read the cancellation policy first: you are required to pay the entire trip cost whether you go or not, no exceptions. Do not expect a refund if things are not as advertised or if things go wrong.
This is an expensive trip with a small "boutique" firm, meaning there is no customer service department and no one to complain to except the owner. If she is on tour elsewhere or has guests over or is otherwise busy, there is no one else. I personally wish we'd gone with a larger, more professional company. I have since seen several trips advertised that had better *advertised* accommodations (our downgrades notwithstanding), local Irish guides, and a reasonable cancellation and refund policies, all for THOUSANDS of dollars less.

I recently traveled with Girl's Guide to the World on a Croatian sailing vacation. I cannot recommend this vacation enough!
We had two catamarans with a total of nine women plus staff sailing to a different port each day after stopping in beautiful secluded coves for afternoon swimming, snacking and drinking. We watched the dolphins play in the Adriatic Sea and explored those areas only accessible by boat. We spent the evenings visiting local restaurants at each port and then laughing the rest of the night away back on the boat with our new friends.
We had informative and interesting tours along the way and the restaurant picks were fabulous. Croatian wines are delicious and we had several wine tastings.
Those of us who continued with the Dubrovnik extension were treated to more beautiful sights, history, great food and wine. The boutique hotel we stayed in inside the city walls was perfect and offered one of the best included breakfasts I have experienced while traveling.
This was my second tour with Girls Guide to the World. I embarked on my third tour days after this one ended and have additional travel planned with them for 2024. I love the small groups and the chance to meet new people. I cannot recommend this travel company enough.
